"Buffy Will you please pay attention?" yelled Giles getting annoy
"Sorry I had a bad night." She screamed back Coming toward him with her staff
"Well I'm sorry but, Lift your elbow, you do have A - Scarcest - Duty - To - Perform." Just then Buffy hit him in the back of his knees and he hit the mat. He looked up to see Buffy smiling obviously satisfied with her move "Buffy remember I'm not the slayer. I don't heal as quick." "Did I hurt you?" Concern Heard clear in her voice.
"No I just wasn't expecting that."
"Well if you hadn't been rambling on about my `Scarcest duty' you would have seen me coming." She explained as she helped him up. "Yes well. I think that we need a break. And why did you have a bad night last night?" He saw her lower her head. "Buffy what is it?"
"Angel. He-He. He...." She begain to cry. Giles wrapped his arms around her and as she lowered to the floor. Begain to rock her after she had quieted down he asked, "Buffy sweetie, what did he do? Did he hurt you?"
"No I-I had a dream."
"What kind of dream? A prophecy?"
"I don't know."
"Well what happened in it? If you want to tell me? She sat up and looked at him in the eyes.
"You. He killed you and I couldn't stop him. I couldn't get to you. You forgave me. Please don't forgive me giles please don't ever forgive me I don't deserve it."
She begain to cry even harder, "Oh Buffy it's okay I'm not going anywhere I promise. Please stop crying."
(After Angelus killed Jenny after giles went to the warehouse after him)
"You can't leave me. I can't do this alone" Sobbed Buffy tightly holding on to him. "Giles I'm so sorry, I'll kill him, I'm sorry. Please stop crying. I'm sorry." Buffy then held him until both their tears had slowed.
"Giles? Are you okay?"
"Buffy... Sh-she's gone..." He broke into sobs once again.
"I know. I'm so sorry. I just wish I could have stopped him before... Please stop crying Giles. Please" After a moment his tears slowed "Giles, We need to get out of here. Come on. Lets go to my house... Okay?"
"Yes, that would be fine."
"Come on then. Uh? Did he hurt you?"
"No. Nothing bad, just a bump on the head"
"Okay so no visits to the hospital tonight, hu?" At that he half smiled.
Soon they arrived at the house; all the lights were still on. Buffy helped Giles up the sidewalk to the front door, but before she could reach the handle it flew open to a very relived Miss. Summers
"Buffy... Mr. Giles..." She let them past; Buffy gently set Giles down at the kitchen table.
"I'll be right back with some Ice for your `Bump'. Okay?" At his nod she turned only to decide to bring her mother with to allow Giles some time alone
"Mom I could use some help, please."
"OH! Sure honey."
"We'll be right back Giles sit tight."
KITCHEN
"Buffy what happened tonight how did..." She was stopped by the sobs coming from her daughter. "Buffy honey whats wrong. Sweetie please tell me I cant help you if you don't tell me." Buffy fell to the floor with her mother's arms rapped around her. "Mom it's all my fault, She died because of me. I couldn't make him go away. God I hurt him again." "Buffy honey what are you talking about? Who did what?"
"Angel Kill Jen... Mrs. Calendar and I could have stopped him."
"How? You couldn't have known what he was going to do. HE KILLED HER!!!"
"Yesssss." Buffy begain crying all over again, just then Giles appeared next to Joyce. She took one look at his face covered in tears and she knew he understood better than she did so she let go of her daughter and let him rap her in his arms he begain soothing her. Joyce silently left the room. After a moment Buffy realized who was holding her.
"Giles?"
"Yes?"
"Do you hate me?"
"NO! No I could never hate you."
"But it's all my fault that he-he..." She begain crying again. "No Buffy it's not your fault you didn't know..."
"I had a chance to stop him and I didn't isn't that what a slayer is suppose to do stop the evil."
"Buffy you love him and-and well..."
"WELL WHAT!!!!" she interrupted "GILES YOU LOVED HER AND HE KILLED HER!!! JUST BECAUSE I LOVED DOESN'T MAKE IT OKAY FOR ME NOT TO HAVE STOPPED HIM... So hence the `All my fault part'."
"Buffy don't..."
She took a calming breath "Giles do you remember my dream. The one were angel killed you."
"Yes why?"
"Well remember when I told you about it, I asked you never to forgive me well this is my dream coming true. He killed your love and it's my fault so please don't ever forgive me because I don't deserve it."
"Buffy..."
"No. Giles. Don't." she stood up and reached a hand out to her. "Come on we need to get you home... Is that okay?"
"Yes."
"Okay my mom will drive you. I'll see you tomorrow. Good night Giles."
"Good night Buffy."
(Right after Buffy got on the bus, after sending Angel to hell.)
Shit Buffy what are you doing you have to go see him. He deserves at least that. She cursed herself while she sat on the bus. Okay I can buy a new ticket. "Hey I need off please."
"You realize there are no refunds."
"Ya!! Thanks."
"Good luck."
OUT SIDE GILES APARTMENT (4:00 PM)
Her palms were sweating.
"Okay here it goes." She knocked on the door very lightly hoping he wouldn't hear. Just when she thought she was free, the door flew open and there he stood broken fingers and all.
"Buffy?" It was barely a whisper.
"Hi!" he rapped her in a tight hug that would have crushed her if she weren't the slayer
"We, Xander and I, we went back to the mansion. You weren't there. You weren't at school. I was so worried."
"I know I'm sorry. I had to leave. And well I'm expelled from school."
He loosened his grip on her, but never let go.
"Buffy. Are you okay? What happened last night? Did Angel open Acathal?" "Yes, He did and I-I killed him."
"Buffy I'm so sorry."
"No. Giles it's okay I'm fine." She scooted away from him. "I just wanted to let you know that I was okay and that everything was okay. I kind of need to go. Mom you know."
"Well yes can I plan on seeing you tomorrow?"
`Sure what time."
"6:30"
"Cool see you then."
"Bye, Giles." She was half way out the door and stopped. "Hey Giles do you forgive me?"
"What?"
"Do you forgive me for Angel?"
"Yes."
"Thank you. Thank you for everything" with never turning around "and-
and I-I love you Giles. I know I never told you before but I do please never forget that. Good-Bye Giles." And she was gone before he could react.
