Part 2

The next morning

The religious silence of the library was abruptly broken when Xander arrived and launched:

"Hello! Anybody there? Giles? Giles, you in there somewhere?"

Higgins/Giles came out of his office, a book clamped under each arm, the other one in his hands.

Xander felt all his blood hurling itself in his arteries southward and his heart threaten to explode in his chest. Aphrodite goddess of Love was standing in front of him. The young woman had a pale satiny skin, her face was thin, delicate, graceful, framed by long wavy fair hair. She had a slender neck, generous breasts, a small waist, a flat stomach, feminine flaring hips and extremely long legs. She was of a brilliant, almost unreal beauty and exuded a sexual magnetism to which no normally constituted man could resist.

Xander felt his throat drying out and his hands becoming clammy. His Adam's apple rose and fell several times before he was capable of articulation in a changed and choked voice:

"Oh, my! Oh my!"

"Oh, Xander, hello. You are here, good. I am going to need your help. Did you see Buffy?"

Xander took interest only in the first part of the sentence: "You need my help?"

He rushed towards Higgins/Giles and immediately looked down the front of his dress. "Ask me anything you want! " < Make of me your sexual slave if you want… please? >

"Wait for me here. I need to find other books and then we will start the research together."

"Together… yes." Xander breathed walking on air.

Higgins/Giles went up the stairs leading to the mezzanine and the young man could admire his slender legs and rounded and firm buttocks. He started to dribble.

Buffy who had just entered the room noticed that Xander was drooling. She grinned and thought: < Ah, boys! > "Xander!"

Xander surprised, jumped and revolved. He noticed drool on his lips and chin. He blushed very embarrassed and hurried to wipe it with the back of his hand.

"Ah! Buffy! You're frightened me!" He moved closer to his best friend and whispered: "Who is this young, beautiful, attractive woman? Say that it is Mrs. Hoskins' substitute teacher, please!"

Buffy shook her head. "It's Giles."

Xander blinked twice. "Giles? How so? Giles? You mean that she's Giles' sister? She's a librarian too?"

Buffy laughed. "No, Giles has no sister. He's an only child Xander. This woman is Rupert Giles. Well… in her head and body. Well… in a way, Giles is a woman."

Xander's jaw dropped and his eyebrows rose almost off his forehead. "WHAT? Giles is a woman?"

Buffy summarised yesterday evening's episode. The boy listened to her mouth agape.

Higgins/Giles went down the right staircase leading to the mezzanine; a pile of big dusty books in his arms. He put them on polished oak reading table and moved towards the two young people.

"Buffy, did you find my body?" He asked, anxious.

Buffy shook her head. "No I didn't, I'm sorry. To my opinion, the one who took it left Sunnydale yesterday evening. She has to be very far from here now Giles."

Higgins/Giles moaned: "Good Lord."

Xander looked at her/him looking dazed. Giles occupied the head and body of a top model!

"I notice by the dazed expression on your face that Buffy told you my problem Xander?"

Xander nodded. "Uh! Yes, she told me. It's a BIG problem. Giles tell me how is it being a woman when we are a man?"

Higgins/Giles answered: "Imagine you in Cordelia's body and you will have the answer to your question, Xander."

"Me? In Cordelia's body? … But-but she's a girl, and I'm a boy … I mean a man."

"Exactly."

"Ooh, poor Giles! You're going to have lots of very BIG problems to be resolved. Like finding underclothes in your size, to choosing a good lipstick, to searching for bargains during the sales. Did you… did you already go to the girls toilets?"

Higgins/Giles' expression was one Xander would not have missed for the world. Higgins/Giles' eyes opened wide and he blinked twice. His cheeks paled slightly and his Adam's apple bobbed several times as he swallowed his huge embarrassment.

Buffy was bewildered. "Xander! How do you dare? Aren't you ashamed?" She then smirked. "Of course, he was there. Nobody can drink a cup of tea without going to the toilets one hour later."

Higgins/Giles took a long breath and regained his composure. His face impassive he then went to his office to make a pot of tea. The tea relaxed him and helped him to think.

Buffy and Xander followed the Watcher-Librarian-now a woman smiling roguishly.

Higgins/Giles filled his electric kettle and wiped his pale green mug with the white handkerchief, which he used to clean his glasses. "Hey! Giles! I'd like to know how you can walk in girls' shoes… " Xander asked intrigued.

"I asked him a similar question last evening." Buffy said, crossing her arms over her chest.

Higgins/Giles sighed. If he did not give them the answer, they would harass him until he capitulated.

"All right, I am going to answer you. When I was in Oxford, I was an actor. I had small roles… As my friends and I were a group of boys… I had to play feminine roles when needed. Are you satisfied?"

Buffy and Xander grinned then managed to repress a terrible urge to burst into laughter.

Higgins/Giles sighed. "I discovered what happened yesterday evening. It was a life energy transfer."

"Oh Jeez! Like in classical Star Trek "Turnabout Intruder"!" Xander exclaimed. He immediately explained: "Doctor Janice Lester discovered a still-working device on Camus II in 2269 thanks to which one could proceed to a life-energy transfer. It was a technology developed long ago by the now-dead civilisation of planet Camus II that permitted two humanoids to exchange their consciousness, so that each person's mind would occupy the other's body. She used it to exchange her body with Captain Kirk's one."

"Fascinating!" Higgins/Giles commented, raising his eyebrow, imitating Spock to perfection but not being aware of it.

Buffy giggled. "What did you say Mr. Spock?"

Rolling his eyes and heaving a sigh, Higgins/Giles ignored Buffy and continued: "The woman who stole my body used no futuristic machine, but a malevolent power. Her name is Karemza. She is a demon who changes hosts to escape the agent of the order of Kade who is searching for her. Karemza has stolen a magic stone from this Order, which they have hunted for near a century. I discovered nothing on this magic stone but the important thing is not there. The important thing is I want to get my body back, and as soon as possible."

The kettle's whistle heralded Willow's entry into the library, her exercise books under her arm. She went to Giles' office and was stunned to discover a gorgeous young woman in the Watcher's chair, Giles' green mug in her hand, sipping some tea, apparently deeply lost in her thoughts. She frowned. Who was she? What was she doing here? Where was Giles? Why did Buffy and Xander look at her with a cheeky smile on their lips?

"Hi!" She said.

Xander waved his hand. "Hey! Willow! Oh yes! Let me tell you something totally incredible: this morning a mischievous witch has transformed Giles into a young woman!" He stretched out his finger towards Higgins/Giles. "It is Giles!"

The teenager considered higgins/Giles and raised her eyebrows, astonished. "You're kidding me?"

Higgins/Giles rectified: "In fact, it was not a mischievous witch, but a demon called Karemza and she did not transform me into a young woman. She stole my body and transferred my mind and soul into her last host."

"Whoa!" Willow commented.

Buffy frowned. "Giles, if Karemza has changed body, it is because she wanted to escape from the agent of… of…"

"Of the Order of Kade, yes."

"It means that he has tracked her down here, correction, that he has tracked down her last host here and it means he has to be in Sunnydale too."

Higgins/Giles nodded. "Last host, which I inhabit. And when he finds me, the body, which shelters me, I'll tell him what happened. He certainly will understand and will let me in peace. < I sincerely hope. >

Buffy shook her head. "But will he want to listen to you, Giles? Maybe this guy uses his fists first and ask the questions after."

Higgins/Giles frowned worried. "Hmm! You are right Buffy. It is a possibility."

Buffy nodded. "A very possible possibility."

He turned towards Willow. "Willow I would like you to search the net to try and discover the identity of the body I now inhabit. There has to be something about um… "Stolen bodies" or "life energy transfer"… Some testimonies. Try to find something."

Willow shook nodded. "I'm on it Giles!"

She sat in front of the computer. Less than ten seconds later, she was surfing on the Internet strumming on the keyboard at warp 9.
