PART 2

BUFFY'S ROOM

When they entered, Buffy was sitting on the bed. She heard the door and looked at them, smiling.

Everybody was stunned, and filled with hope. *Maybe the doctor's wrong.*

"Buffy, you're scaring us," said an optimist Xander. "The doctor told us that you were…"

"That's right Xander," said Buffy, interrupting him before he said The Word. "But it's not the end of the world! Wait, it's not, right?"

Willow looked at her and spoke for the first time. "No, it's not, Buff," she said softly.

Joyce looked at her daughter, then at the others; like her, they seemed a little shocked. Nobody could have imagined such a reaction from Buffy.

"Honey, how do you feel?"

"Fine Mum, really. Oh, and the doc said that I can go home, like I'm not injured."

"Do you think that is reasonable, Buffy?" asked Willow. Buffy's reaction was unbelievable and completely incredible. Nobody was prepared for that.

"Willow, I don't want to spend the night here if it's not necessary. Mom, you agreed."

"Honey, yes, but--"

"No `but.' I'm fine, and I want to go home. Pleaaase."

"All right, if the doctor agreed. But I want a confirmation."

"Yippee for Buffy."

Five people looked at each other, and for them it was a little surrealistic.

Suddenly, Anya said, "Oh, we forgot to call Giles; maybe we should."

"NO!" said an alarmed Buffy.

"But sweetheart, he has the right to know your...state, he must know."

"No, please, I don't want to tell him," said Buffy in a whisper.

"What!" asked Xander, "but Buffy, you can't do this to him!"

"He's busy, and...and he wants to take a rest."

Several voices in the room exclaimed, "What!!!" except Willow. *Here we are.*

"Buffy, you can't think that, that..." stammered an angry Dawn.

"Look Dawn, I have my reasons, and I want everyone to make me a promise."

"Buffy…"

"No Dawn, and everyone else. Please, for him I'm just a job and..."

"Buffy, you're wrong. How can you say that? You have never been just a job for him."

"Except at the beginning."

"Anya!" said Xander, looking at his girlfriend with a look that said 'it's not the moment for that.'

"But it's true," mumbled Anya.

"Xander, you don't know what's happened. So, please, I..." Buffy was searching for her words, and finally she said, "I beg you..." She was practically in tears. "Make me the promise that nobody will tell him about my...my state."

"But Buff…"

"No, please listen to me; he has the right to have a life, his life. Please, don't ask me my reasons, just respect my wishes. Believe me or not, but it's for him."

"How could it be for him?" asked Anya, shrugging her shoulders.

"Please..." said Buffy with a desperate voice.

Everyone heard it, and looked at each other.

*My suspicions were right, unfortunately. Something happened and she doesn't want to tell us,* thought Willow.

Seeing how she was, so emotionally painful, they accepted, but they knew it wasn't really a good idea. So, the a same voice, all in the room promised her. Everybody...except Joyce.
