'How do I face her now?' Giles wondered as he listened to Buffy's tale of her meeting with the Shadowmen.

He'd known all along about the 'creation' of the Slayer line. What Watcher didn't? Thousands of years of meticulous records had been kept to insure that such an important fact was not lost. He'd had to hide many things from her over the years, but this was the most important, especially considering how she'd felt after her return-convinced that she was less than human. This would have only proven it.

As Buffy finished, Giles kept his face impassive, while his thoughts churned.

"Oh Buffy," he sighed as he laid a comforting hand on her shoulder, silently vowing to never let one of his last few secrets see the light of day.
