Giles stopped the car by the pickup area of the hospital and waited. Sure enough, Angel came out leading an unsteady looking Wesley to the car and carefully guided him in to the backseat. Giles sighed as Angel got himself settled under the blanket Spike had tossed him. Sunset was fast approaching but Giles did not want to take chances.
"I'm sorry Rupert," Angel apologized again for the bellow over the phone when Giles had answered it. "I am truly sorry. I thought you were Cordelia and I am extremely pissed with her right now."
"It's all right Angel," Giles said. "I did the same thing to Xander and Spike when I found Ethan after Buffy pounded the shit out of him for no reason."
"Is that why you are all here?" Angel asked as he rubbed Wesley's shoulder.
No more games. He'd mate claimed Wes the second the doctors lead him out of the room. Wes had allowed it seeing as he was very tired and had loved Angel for so long. Angel suspected that was why Wes had stayed in the hotel with him. Giving up his apartment so he could afford the bills at the Hyperion since he couldn't touch Angel's accounts and Cordy had the credit cards. That, Angel decided, was going to change. Wes would remain in the hotel but the bills reverted back to Angel now. As did everything Wes would need new since he'd torn a good portion of his wardrobe up fighting. Angel would repay his sweet one for the care he'd been given. Angelus would see to it.
"Yes," Giles said softly. "Buffy does not approve of male homosexual relations. I suppose because that means the males aren't looking at her but this attack on Ethan was the end of it. Anya got us out of town, with a new car with tinted black windows in the back so Spike could ride in safety. She got me money form my account to get us here and is helping me transfer funds here. Or wherever we end up."
"You can stay with me, Rupert," Angel said. "Wes and I could use more people in our hotel. Who all came?"
"Xander and Spike, Ethan and myself. Dawn as Joyce named me her guardian, and Willow and Tara will be joining us soon. Buffy has become too violent in how she gets things done. She beat Ethan for a spell he was coming to give me anyway. She beat Spike to make him help her fight a demon he had planned to fight anyway. It has to stop."
"Yes, it does," Angel quietly mused as they pulled up at the hotel. It was dark now so Angel stepped out of the car and carried Wesley in to the Hyeperion's Lobby. He smiled as he saw Ethan studying books and writing things down for him while Spike and Xander sparred.
"Ethan took over researching when you called to ask for a ride. He knows most books of prophesy and magic backwards and forwards. He's said some of those supposed visions are plain Bullshit."
Angel nodded and carried Wesley up to bed. As he was turning to leave Wes grabbed his arm.
"Work?" Wes asked tiredly. Angel shook his head and pulled the blankets over him tightly.
"Not for you right now. Doctor said you needed complete rest. Ethan and Giles are researching; Spike and Xander are going to take over patrols until I'm back in shape. I'm going to take care of you now like you took care of me. Okay?"
Wes looked a bit fretful but nodded. He was so tired. The doctors said it was a miracle he hadn't fallen ill himself doing whatever it was that had made him so weary. Now Angel was back. His Angel was taking care of him and telling him it was okay to rest. There were others who would take up the fight for a while now. Not that Angel was going to be one of them once Wes was well enough to travel. They were all leaving as soon as that was done. No more pain for those he loved. No more hurting and longing and watching his Wes suffer. No, as soon as they could, they were leaving. Angel had absolutely had it with the powers. They had allowed this and it was the last straw. Angel quit. At least, once he dealt with Cordelia at anyrate.
