Chapter 1: The Legacy

Ethan looked up at the house as they arrived. It was a castle and he had always wanted to live here but he was not wanted by anyone but his brother. Even is mother had rejected him. But not his brother. Not Derek. Derek who was standing waiting as the cars pulled up just after sunset. Derek watched, as Ethan got out of the car with a man he knew as Ripper Giles and a younger man in his early twenties who seemed to be looking the house over.

"This is one of the places I have to do something in," the younger man told Ethan as Derek joined them. He noticed there were others with them, the two men who were pale he guessed right off were vampires. Yet, Rupert was not hurting them.

"Derek," Ethan said as he pulled the younger man forward. "This is your nephew. Innocent Winter Rayne."

"Innocent?" Derek asked. Ethan nodded smiling.

"Innocent was not born of woman," he said. "Ripper and I made him when our magics collided. Innocent Winter Rayne was born on the Winter Solstice. He can hear the elements."

"Dad, stop. You're embarrassing me," Innocent said. "Ignore him, Uncle Derek. I'm still very new at this. I was messed up so I ha to b remade. This is Angel and that is Spike. That is My Slayer Faith. I activated Katherine, and I'm sorry she's so young but when I de-activated Buffy I had to do something with the power and Kat was the closest potential."

"It's all right," Derek said. "I feel better knowing she has the strength to defend herself. Come this way. The rest of the house is waiting to meet you all. We held Dinner for you."

"Thank you, Derek," Ethan said quietly.

"You know you always have a home with me, Ethan," Derek said. "Father be damned you have a place with me."

"I---know Derek. Thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me that someone in the family wants me."

"I do, little brother," Derek said. "I always will. Now, come meet everyone. I want you to meet your niece Elizabeth. I just found out about her. She's older the he is but I see it, he is The Innocent Child."

"Son of the unwanted One," Ripper said. "And boy does your father feel like an idiot in whatever afterlife he's in."

"Hell," Derek said coldly. "He sold his soul to Satan for knowledge. Father is in hell."

"Joy," innocent said as they walked into the house. "You can call me Wes by the way. I grew up as Wesley but I like Wes."

"Wes it will be then," Derek said as they made their way into the house and to the dinning room.

"Katherine, the people I told you could explain what happened are here."

"Hi!" A girl of about 13 said. "I'm Kat. Who are you?"

"I'm Innocent, this is Ripper, my Dad and Ethan, my Pop. That's Angel, Spike, Cordelia, Doyle, Joyce, Xander, Dawn and Willow. Ripper is going to be your Watcher."

"What's a Watcher?" The girl asked.

"A Watcher is the teacher of The Slayer. You are now one of the two active Slayers. I am sorry about how young you are, my dear, but I had to activate the nearest potential."

"You activated a Potential Slayer?" a young man in priest clerics said. Innocent looked at him.

"Yes I did. I also de-activated one who did not deserve the title. The Slayer is a trust, it is an honor and she abused it. You, Kat, will make a fine Slayer. And you will live a good long time because you have those here to help you."

"The Slayer works alone," the young priest said.

"And dies by 16," Ripper retorted. "Buffy, the one he deactivated, before she got a god complex had a support system. She had friends, her family and love and a life. She is nearly 20. So, young man, grow up. Your Good Book is a How To guide of how to get little girls killed. I will train her as I trained Buffy and that is factoring in fun, life, dating and anything else a girl may want to do. The Slayer was not a machine until the Church took over so just shut the hell up on your way to murder. Katherine, I won't lie, what I will teach is going to be hard. Learning to stake vampires a well as having the sight but that may actually be a good thing as you can see what is truly evil as opposed to what merely looks it."

"Okay," the girl said. She trusted Derek and Derek trusted these people. Derek stopped suddenly and looked at Ethan and Innocent.

"The house---the groaning has stopped," he said stunned.

"Only an idiot wants to cross Innocent," Ethan said. "His purity will burn all evil. Your House will be healed while he is here, Derek. He said there was something he had to do here. I think that is it."

"It is," a voice spoke. "Innocent Child, Blood Tame, Blood Wild."

"Christina," Derek whispered.
