Watching Ethan sleep with no pain delighted Ripper to no end. Without the dagger, Ethan was calm, relaxed and at peace. It made Ripper extremely happy to know his beloved would live. He lightly kissed Ethan's forehead and then quietly walked downstairs to where the others were waiting. They were planning for the arrival of the person who was to get the Dagger of Kah-Lin out of Ethan and return it to the council. He was due to arrive that day.
Ripper smiled evilly as there came a knock on his front door a few hours later. He opened the door to reveal Ethan's Doctor, Doctor Peterson, on the other side.
"It's a miracle Doctor!" Ripper exclaimed. "He pulled through! Ethan is going to live!"
The doctor's face showed a glimmer of something like disappointment before he brought his professional face back up and Ripper thought 'Bingo!' He knew who the spy was now. 'To catch the bastard---' Ripper mused to himself as he opened the door wider for the doctor, gesturing him inside.
"I was hoping you would be good enough to check Ethan over for me," Ripper said. "He's upstairs sleeping."
"Of course Mr. Giles," Dr. Peterson said. He walked up the stairs to the loft where he found Ethan in a deep sleep and just gawked. The Dagger of Kah-Lin was not present in Ethan Rayne's soul yet the man still lived. How was this possible?
Peterson felt a prick at the back of his neck and froze.
"Lose something, ass?" Mr. Giles asked coldly. "As you can see, I found the way to save him---Or should I say, we found the way."
"Peterson turned and froze seeing the large group standing between him and the steps. He felt the marrow in his bones freeze as he saw the Slayer and the two vampires. Angelus and Spike. Everyone knew who they were and they were scarier right now than the Slayer or the angry watcher. They were scarier than the knife in Giles' hand.
"Be out of town by sunset," Giles said coldly.
"Otherwise, Spike and I will hunt you down," Angel---Angelus told him.
As Peterson left he prayed as Giles' told him to that he never saw any of them again because that would surely be the death of him. It would be the death of the council when Giles found out about the other Watcher.
After he was gone, Giles chuckled wondering if the council liked the dagger he had sent to them. It sent a message as clear as the dagger that they wanted. It was just a different message than they were expecting---
Watcher's Council HQ:
Quentin Travers smiled smugly at the package that he had just received with glee. Ethan Rayne, the Revealer, was dead at last. No longer did the Council have to fear him revealing the truth of the council to the world. The dagger had been returned and life was good.
Travers smiled as his minions entered the Council Room main. He ruled this council now, Not Arthur Giles. Quentin opened the box and his smug smile faded to nothing and was replaced gradually by a look of fear. It was a dagger, but not the Dagger of Kah-Lin. No, this Dagger was more frightening in it's message. It did not need the note with it to make the message plainer but there was a note nonetheless
"Hello,
Tag, you're it.
Goodbye,
Guess who."
Ripper's Dagger, it frightened them.
Ripper's Dagger.
Ripper's Justice.
Ripper was coming.
For them.
Dear Lord, may God have Mercy on their souls because Ripper most certainly would not.
