Wesley looked at Spike who was still standing still in the danger room where Wolverine, Logan, was now lying on the floor. Spike looked almost terrified.
"What'd I do?" Spike asked softly. Wesley noticed the look on his father's face as he approached the bleached vampire and led him away by the hand.
"You protected what is yours Spike, no more, no less." Giles said softly to the confused vampire.
"But...I...that power. Where did it come from?" he asked. Giles shook his head as Wesley joined them on the way out of the room.
"We'll research it Spike. We'll find out what's happened and we'll deal with it."
"Do you think it's bad Watcher?" Spike asked. Giles shook his head.
"No, I think it may be something very good actually."
"As do I," Wesley said as they headed up to the school's library where the rest of their group plus Illyana was waiting.
Now," Giles said as Wesley began to sort through his books. "Research. The core of our lives."
"Which explains you bringing your books here with you Rupert?" Spike asked. Giles. Giles only laughed before he spoke.
"Spike," he began. "Do you perhaps know the legend of the Vampire King?"
"That's only a myth Rupes," Spike said. "The Vampire King was made up to explain vampires that didn't turn right..."
"Like you?" Wesley asked softly. Spike looked at him almost angrily
"Yeah, like bloody me." he said coolly. "I didn't bloody turn right, can't ya bleedin' well tell? I'm too bloody human an' everything."
"Spike...in the myth you were told...did the Vampire King, that is to say, could he do things?"
"Things?" Spike asked. Giles nodded.
"Yes. Things. Like shouting and have a shockwave come form his mouth? Being able to freeze someone with a word? In your myths, could he do those things?"
"Well, yeah...hey, now wait. I can't be the Vampire King...I'm too human..."
"Spike," Giles began. "Spike, the vampire King retained his soul and a good deal of his humanity. He was. The council hunts down those vampires like you because they fear one of them could be the Vampire King. Their stories state that The Vampire King, when he sits upon his throne, will bring about understanding. They can't allow it to be known that a supposedly Evil Creature could do something so well so they seek to prevent it. To destroy all vampires like you. All vampires that could be..."
"The vampire King..." Spike mused. "I'm the Bloody Vampire King...this is just...neat."
