At a hotel on the way to New York, Angel's team were trying to prevent him from flambéing himself as he kept trying to leave.
"I have to go!" Angel roared. "The king is calling! I have to go to the king!"
"Angel!" Gunn yelled trying to settle him. "Angel you can't go to the King right now. We're going, I promise, but you can't go to him right now."
"I have to go to the King Gunn," Angel growl/whimpered. "I have to go to him. He's my King...I have to be with him... Can't let Darla poison him to darkness!"
"Angel, stop it!" Cordelia yelled finally slapping the dark vampire. "We're going to him. I swear to you we are going to him. And we'll get there before Darla does. I swear. Now settle down. We're almost to New York now."
Angel growled and lay back against the bed panting unneeded breaths. It had been so long and now there was a King again. Someone to give guidance and control to them, someone to give purpose to them again.
I wish Wesley was here," Cordelia said looking at Angel now resting fitfully. "He could tell us about this Vampire King."
"Well," Gunn said. "Angel said Turn him to darkness which means he's good right now. We do need to get there soon. This sounds important."
"Yeah," Cordelia said. Faith looked over at the ex-may queen from where she was reading a magazine. She knew from Giles' letter why Wesley had left and she knew Cordelia deserved this hell. She watched Angel and sighed as he shifted again. They would win the race to this King. Maybe then she'd feel like she had a purpose other than someone else's gun. She thought she might like that.
