Summary: Willow is missing!
This story is now complete. I am posting it in honor of Tony's birthday! Happy Birthday, and may your days always be full of love.
(Honestly, I'd probably die if he ever read this. I would just hope he would understand that I only write the character with love in my heart. )
Thank you to wide_rider for all your beta help and advice.
I'm also dedicating this final chapter to pixelleate. I hope you liked it.
I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you for reading!
Willow said good bye to Robin Wood and hung up the phone before handing it back to Brooks. "He said most of the other slayers were unscathed. A few collapsed but they've recovered now. Some didn't feel anything." Her eyes went over to the bed where Buffy lay. She still hadn't woke up. Brooks had hooked her up to an IV to help with hydration, and Giles would not let go of her hand.
Xander sighed. "So you and Buffy like... soaked in all the bad magic that was meant to kill the slayers?"
"I'm not sure what happened, exactly," Willow said. "It was as if the Shaman sucked all the power out of everything and threw it at me, and right when he did that, Buffy jumped in between us. Buffy did something that set my magic free, and then we both pushed the power back at him and his tribe. After that there was this explosion and Buffy fell down. I tried to wake her up and that's when Giles showed up and got us out of the cave before it collapsed."
Xander poured another cup of coffee and handed it to Willow. It was full of caffeine, but he didn't care. They all needed something right now.
They were holed up in the warehouse. Brooks had forced them all to eat and get some rest. They seemed to be waiting to see what would happen with Buffy.
Brooks put a hand on Giles' shoulder and shook him gently. The Watcher was slumped in a chair next to Buffy's bed, both of his hands around her small, pale hand that didn't have the IV tubing. "Here. You have to eat something." Brooks placed a sandwich under Giles' nose.
Giles shook his head. "I'm not hungry."
"I don't care. Eat it," Brooks commanded. "You can't help her if you don't take care of yourself."
Reluctantly, Giles took the offered sandwich. He ate it without tasting it, washing it down with water.
It had been more than 24 hours and there was no change in Buffy. He was at a loss as to what to do. Nothing seemed to work. It was as if her life force had been drained and she had nothing left to give, and nothing left to hold onto. She was an empty vessel that even he couldn't fill.
In frustration he threw the paper plate onto the floor and kicked off his shoes. Ignoring the others he climbed into the bed behind Buffy. He pulled her into his arms, spooning her from behind. He pressed his face into her shoulder. "Buffy, I need you. I can't do this without you. Please come back to me. Please." His hands moved to her stomach, beneath her shirt. He made soft circles with his fingers and palms on her warm skin, willing his touch and love to spark something inside of her.
"I have plans for us, you know," he told her. He didn't notice Willow and Xander sitting on the floor with their backs against the wall, hanging on his every word. He didn't notice Brooks trying not to eavesdrop as he went through their various supplies. All Giles noticed was Buffy. "I've loved you for so long. Ever since you defeated the Master, I think. Maybe sooner." He kissed her shoulder again and kept moving his hands on her body. It was like she was suffering from hypothermia and he was using his body to warm hers.
"You've always been beautiful to me. So graceful when you fight. So strong. So brave. I've always watched you and wanted you, but I never dreamed that you'd return my love. We're the perfect match for each other, Buffy. My Slayer. My love. We've seen each other at our worst and our best. We know each other intimately in every way." His fingers brushed her breasts. "Every way," he whispered fiercely. "You can't leave me now. We have a life to begin together. You have so much more love to give others. Everyone you touch, you give your love. You saved Willow with your love. Buffy, you've saved me with your love. You save me every day with your love."
Buffy stirred. His fingers brushed her nipples again and they hardened slightly. He cupped them in his hands, kneading them. Her butt was cupped in his lap and he pressed himself against her. "Feel me, Buffy. Feel my love."
Willow grabbed Xander's arm. "C'mon. We should go."
"Where are we going to go?" Xander was transfixed with the scene in the other room.
"Xander!" Willow hissed. "They need privacy. Come on!"
Brooks agreed. He waved at them and led them out of the warehouse. The grounds were enclosed and it wasn't too hot outside yet. Perhaps a nice walk around the area?
Giles moved his hands from her breasts down to her stomach again. He felt her body relaxing, almost yielding to his touch. "Buffy," he whispered in her ear.
She moaned. It was soft, but it was there. He trailed kisses along her neck and shoulder. Slowly he turned her around to face him. He kissed her face and tucked his leg over hers, pulling her closer against him. "Wake up, Buffy. Wake up, my love. I need you. I need you so much." He moved his mouth to press a kiss between her breasts, feeling her heart beat begin to race.
Her eyes flickered open. Her arms tightened around him and she pulled his head closer to her chest. "G-Giles?"
Giles moaned. He felt tears in his eyes. "Yes, I'm here. Oh Buffy." She pressed him closer and he moved to kiss her. She parted her lips and invited him to deepen the kiss. Her hands moved down his hip and over his leg.
"Need you," she whispered. Her hands undid his pants and her fingers found his arousal. He groaned and bucked into her hand. Before he knew what was happening, she'd pulled him to her. Still lying on their sides, he entered her with a groan.
"Need you, need you, need you," Buffy chanted. Her body began to move against his, pulling him in. Her hands pressed into his skin. She clutched at him almost painfully. She was awake, and she was his. She needed him as much as he needed her.
"Oh God, I need you too," Giles groaned. It was a deliciously slow pace. The sensations building between them were almost torturous. Giles reached down between them and rubbed her clit with his fingers with each of his thrusts, finally sending Buffy over the edge. She cried out his name as she came, and he followed right behind her.
It was several moments later when Giles came back to himself. "Buffy?" He leaned back, relieved to see her smiling at him. He reached up and ran his fingers lovingly down her cheek. "Are you alright?"
"Of course I am," Buffy said gently. "I'm with you."
"Never leave me," he told her, his eyes boring into hers.
"I won't," Buffy said, resting her forehead against his.
Giles sighed in relief. He pressed another kiss to her soft lips, not caring that his tears fell lightly on her face.
"Giles?"
"Yes, luv?"
"Will you marry me?"
Giles pulled back and looked at her face. He caressed her cheek once again and smiled. He leaned down and kissed her. After several more moments of kissing Buffy pulled back and gave him a pouty look. "You haven't answered me yet!"
He laughed and held her close. "Yes, Buffy. Yes, yes yes."
* * *
Six months later...
They held the wedding ceremony in the Sherwood Forest, not far from the cottage they lived in outside of Kirby. It was beautiful and simple and perfect. Xander stood next to Giles, and Willow and Dawn stood up with Buffy. She held yellow daisies in her hands. Giles and Xander looked stunning in black tuxedos. When the minister told Giles he could kiss his bride, Xander and Willow had to pry them apart. Robin Wood and Faith and many of the slayers from Cleveland attended. Even Andrew came, with his camcorder attached at his wrist.
The live Celtic Band was a nice touch. Buffy quite enjoyed dancing barefoot on the grass with her husband holding her close. They shared soft kisses between dips and twirls and tangos.
Willow and Xander were given the keys to Giles' place in Bath. They squired Dawn away with them so Giles and his bride could enjoy a quiet honeymoon. They were not planning on going anywhere. They'd traveled enough lately. All they wanted was a few quiet days and nights together in the cottage.
Buffy giggled in his arms when he insisted on carrying her over the threshold. Especially since she had to reach down and unlock the door for him first. He chuckled as they entered, then turned and closed the door with one hand, setting the lock. He kissed her and then carried her upstairs to their bedroom.
"I've always wanted to do this to you," he teased before tossing her in a heap into the center of their bed.
"Hey!" she laughed, but it was quickly stifled by his mouth pressing onto hers, and then his tongue sought entrance and she was lost. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she responded to his passionate kisses.
"I love you, Mrs. Giles," he said, nipping on her earlobe.
"I love that. Say it again!"
He pulled back and smiled at her. He helped her sit up so he could move his hands behind her to work the zipper down on her simple but gorgeous white wedding gown. "I love you, Mrs. Giles?"
"Yes, Mrs. Giles. Mrs. Buffy Giles." She pulled his mouth back down for another kiss.
Slowly he rolled them over so he was on his back. He finished unzipping her dress all the way down and then slowly began to peel it off of her shoulders, raining kisses down on her neck and collarbone and shoulders. She got impatient, and he had to laugh when she sat up and pulled the garment off of her and just threw it in the chair next to the bed. Soon her under things quickly followed. He quirked an eyebrow at her. "Are you in a hurry for something?"
Buffy nodded. "Oh yeah. I plan on making my husband squirm as I drive him insane. But first, off with your clothes!" She quickly tore off his tie and then ripped his shirt open. Buttons went flying.
"Buffy!" He was shocked and thrilled all at the same time. "It's a good thing it wasn't a rental... oh god, that feels so good..."
She'd latched her teeth onto one of his nipples. Her tongue teased the tight little nub while she rubbed her leg against his rising arousal still tucked into his pants.
Giles groaned and then flipped them over again. He stood up, keeping his eyes on his wife, and slowly removed his pants. Buffy watched him and licked her lips. She parted her legs and slowly began to stroke herself while her eyes were locked onto his. His face turned red and he almost tripped on his pants before finally getting them around and off his ankles. "Turn around," he said in a firm voice.
Buffy heard the command in his voice and it excited her. A flood of heat pooled in her core. She turned around so she was lying on her stomach. She felt the bed dip as Giles lowered himself down. He crawled over her and started to kiss her shoulders. He moved his hands under her and cupped her breasts, playing with her nipples while his tongue and lips moved down her spine. When he reached the small of her back he moved his hands to her hips. He felt her buck and moan into the pillow. "Wanting and needing, are you?" he whispered. He moved his hand between her, stroking her firmly. He moved one finger inside of her, and then the other, causing Buffy to writhe on the bed.
"Please, please, Giles... please!" Buffy pressed her face into the pillow.
Giles lifted her hips and moved his body around hers, letting her feel his strength and heat all around her. He teased her nether lips with his tip. "So wet, my Buffy. My wife!" He thrusted himself deeply inside of her and she cried out his name.
He moved his hands to her hips to pull her close while he thrusted.
"So deep, god..." Buffy could swear he felt even bigger this way. He filled her totally making her feel so complete and whole.
He kissed her shoulder and neck and his hands gripped her hips tighter. "Now... Now, Buffy!" His orgasm exploded out of him as soon as he felt her grip and pull at his body, milking all of his love out of him. He called out her name over and over again until she collapsed onto the mattress. He followed her down and still kept slowly thrusting, wanting to please her for as long as possible. Finally he was spent and curled his body around her, keeping them joined as he held her close.
Finally Buffy gained her voice back. "I swear, Giles, it gets better each time. How do you do that?"
Giles chuckled and smiled with pride. "I just love you the way I feel about you. I give all of myself. It's the only way I know how to be with you, Buffy."
Buffy choked back a little sob and moved her head and kissed him. "What did I ever do to deserve you?"
Giles smiled and rubbed her nose with his own. "I have something for you."
Buffy sat up and smiled. She turned around and sat back against the headboard. "Oh, prezzies!"
He chuckled and reached into the side table, pulling out a jewelry box. "For my wife, on our wedding night." He placed the pale blue box in her hands.
Buffy leaned over and tenderly kissed the corner of his mouth before opening the box. "Oh, Giles! It's beautiful!" She reached inside and held up the gold locket on a simple gold chain.
"I was hoping that you could perhaps put a picture of our wedding inside the locket," he said shyly.
"That's a wonderful idea! Help me put it on?" She handed it to him and turned around, holding her damp hair back and off of her neck.
He slipped the locket on and then kissed the nape of her neck. "Beautiful. Wearing nothing but this locket... I can't believe you're here and you're mine."
"I'm your wife, Giles, so you better get used to it." She grinned and kissed him. "I have a present for you too."
His eyebrows raised. "You do? Buffy, you didn't need to get me anything."
She didn't say anything. She just smiled and reached into her side table and pulled out a white box. She handed it to him as he sat back against the headboard.
He shook it for a moment and she elbowed him. "Just open it, silly."
After smiling at her once more he slowly lifted the lid off the box. Confused for a moment, he reached inside and pulled out a very tiny white shoe. He blinked for a moment, and then it struck him. He turned to her with a wide eyed look. "Buffy! Are you... are you..."
Buffy smiled and nodded. "Yes, Giles. You're going to be a father."
He just looked at her for a moment. Then he reached up and cupped her face. "Oh Buffy." Tears sprang in his eyes and he pulled her into a fierce hug. They rocked back and forth for a moment in their embrace. Soon he started to laugh. "You do realize that by the time our little one is in high school, I'll probably be in a rocker?"
"Hardly," Buffy told him. "You're in wonderful shape. And we're both retired now, so... except for some research, because I know I can't keep you out of that, we're going to enjoy life and let the others take care of the world for a while."
Giles moved a hand to her abdomen and kissed her neck. "Yes. I like that plan." Slowly he moved to kiss her stomach. "Do you hear that, little one? Your mother and father are going to keep you safe, and each other safe. Always."
"Forever," Buffy agreed. She laid back onto her pillows and held Giles close. He fell asleep resting his cheek on her stomach, a smile still on his face.
