It was a fluke. Buffy was walking home from the Bronze after meeting up with her friends.  She was suppose to be on patrol but had decided a short late patrol would be okay.  There hadn't been anything happening lately.

She hardly ever investigated this part of town. It wasn't known for vampire or demon activity.  The only reason she was there was because she'd been so lost in thought she'd turned right in the alley instead of left.  That's when her senses went off, big time.  Before she knew what was happening, a half of dozen vampires jumped off of the roof and she was surrounded.  They snarled at her, licking their fangs and smirking.  Quickly she snagged one of her stakes out of her pocket and she rotated around inside the circle of attack.  She kicked one, but another came from behind her and punched her in the back of the head.  Momentarily stunned, another jumped her from her left side. She lunged with the stake and took one out while another grabbed her hair from behind.  Five of them were now on her.  The stake fell from her fingers.  The vampire that had her by the hair pulled her head backwards, arching and exposing her neck.  She tried to scream as the leader crept closer.  His buddies had her by her arms and legs.  "I bet you taste amazing," the leader snarled and prepared to not only sink his teeth into her neck, but to turn her.  A Slayer vampire sired by him.  What could be better?

The noise went undetected at first. Then it got closer.  A light flashed into the alley, and the leader turned to see what was coming.  He growled as the motorcycle entered the alley.  The rider gunned the engine and plunged it into the crowd of vampires. They released Buffy.  The bike came to a skidding halt, leaning onto it's right until the driver kept it upright.  He grabbed the crossbow that had been slung behind his shoulders, and in one motion, fired and reloaded.  He took out three vampires while Buffy took out the other two.

In less than three minutes there was nothing left in the alley but a Slayer, dust, and her hero.  She slowly approached the man.  His face was covered in a full sized helmet.  She stopped and just stared at him, feeling something pulling at her towards the man, from deep inside.  An attraction, certainly.  A feeling of power and lust and trust, all wrapped into one.  Buffy licked her lips.  Time seemed to stand still.

Slowly the man returned the crossbow to its resting place on his back.  Then he pulled off his helmet and turned to smile at Buffy.  "Are you alright?"

Buffy's jaw dropped.  "Giles!?"  In an instant Giles was off the bike and Buffy was in his arms.  She clung to him in surprise and gratitude.  "It's you?  God, thank God you're here."

Giles was shaken.  He'd had a bad feeling while out on a ride.  Something had brought him to this alley, and he almost crashed the bike when he saw Buffy's struggle.  He held her tight.  "You're okay?"

She shook her head and stepped back to look at him, not releasing the hug.  "I'm okay, thanks to you."  Then she grinned.  "What's with the bike?"

Giles blushed and straightened up.  He wasn't wearing his glasses, but wished he had something to polish.  He ran his fingers over the bike instead.  "A Watcher has to have some secrets."  He smiled.
