Her Wish Was Green.

He watched the activities, standing back with a smile. He knew he should have been careful, should have heard the wish before agreeing to it. But no, he had just said what ever you want dear. Now it was the big day and everyone had cooperated. Her one set of friends were easy, they all loved the idea. The others were a little harder; some didn't like the color green. Green was everywhere. The cake icing, the candles, the ice cream, the decorations, they even got a green dragon bouncy thing for the children to bounce in. And everybody had to wear a color of green to the party.

Willow walked up to him shaking her head. “I’m sorry! I was meditating when she came to visit and you know how she is. She wants to know everything.”

“I know. It’s alright she could have chosen black for her color. I think I would have put my foot down at that one.”

“I don’t think she would have. She found one of the new girl’s Wicca book and wanted me to show her about the colors. She found out that green is associated with the number five, how old she is and her birthday, the Zodiac sign Cancer, which she was born in the sign of Cancer, Wednesday, and it is Wednesday. She also knows that it’s the Chinese year of the Dragon, also green. Lets face it; you were doomed from the start.”

Giles laughed. “When you put it that way it seems a little more logical. I’m glad we didn’t have to stay with only one color of green though.”

“I saw the candles for the cake. How did you explain the green flame to the mothers of her preschool friends? I know you used magic on them.”

“That is why the candles are not on the cake. The chemical boric acid in a candle produces a green flame. I told them that.”

Willow nodded.

Just as he was about to say something he felt two arms reach around him and hug him gently. Looking down he saw the two rings on her finger and knew who was behind him. Turning around he saw the love of his life smiling up at him. Cupping her face in his hands he bent down and placed a soft sweet kiss on her lips.

When Buffy pulled back she smiled. “You should have asked what the wish was before you agreed to it. At least you didn’t get Kermit the Frog to come and entertain.”

A funny look came over Giles’ face. “I tried but they don’t do private parties.”

Laughing she leaned her head against his chest and shook it. “She is going to be so spoiled after this.”

“Ah! but there is where you are wrong my love. If you will notice besides the gifts we got for her none of her little friends brought her anything.”

“I was going to ask about that. Why didn’t they bring anything for her?”

“She heard about an orphanage that was in need of some help so she asked her friends to ask their parents to donate to The Cornwall Home for Destitute Little Girls. Thanks to the parents and some of their friends a lot of little projects that got pushed aside for big projects are now fixed.”

She started to ask if he had made a donation when he saw the question in her eyes.

“Yes we made a large donation as well. Our portion went to update their playground equipment.”

Just then a little girl dressed in turquoise green from the ribbons in her hair to her shoes ran up and hugged her parents.

Her eyes, the same shade of green as her fathers', gleamed as she smiled up at them. “Thank you Mummy and Daddy for the best birthday party ever.”

They knelt down, hugged her and said, “Happy Birthday Aislynn!”

AN: When I thought up the orphanage idea I checked out the internet for England orphanages. The Cornwall Home for Destitute Little Girls is a real orphanage there and the name sounded like one a little girl would want to help. I don’t know anything about the orphanage only that it is real and that it is near Bath, England.
