TITLE Laura Giles Part 17/?
AUTHOR Laura Curtis
PAIRING Spike/Laura
RATING PG
SUMMARY On the plane back to Cleveland Laura and Spike start bonding.
DISCLAIMER Don't own them, just the ones I make up. Don't know them. Just having fun. I promise to return them unharmed.
Author's Note: I'm taking a little liberty with the Angel episode. I'm making it so Spikes hands weren't cut off, he was only unconscious when Andrew and the Slayers showed up to take Dana. Also Andrew's explanation as to where Buffy and Giles are, was a bit vague. So I'm making them in Cleveland visiting. They also know Spike is alive.

*Here I am looking at him and I can't believe I found him. Elizabeth was right, I found him when I wasn't looking for him. The others must think I am crazy. All I can do is stare at him. I made them bring him with us. I only hope he wakes up before we get back to Cleveland. Dana really did a number on him. I want to touch him again, to see if he is for real, but I'm afraid, after all this time, that he is a figment of my imagination. Also I don't want to hurt him any more than he already is.*
Laura is sitting on the edge of the couch beside Spike, looking at him, afraid to touch him. Finally after a few more minutes she touches his hand. Instantly electrical sparks run up and down her arm, like nothing she'd ever felt before, drawing her attention to his hand. She starts to let go of him when his hand grabs a hold of hers. Startled, she looks at his face and see that his eyes are open. He has the same look of wonder in his eyes that she is feeling. A few minutes later Andrew starts to come over but just before Andrew gets to them, Spike closes his eyes.
Andrew puts his hand on her shoulder, "Laura, you need to come and rest. You've been going nonstop ever since we left Cleveland and two days before that."
She start to let go of Spike's hand but he adds a little more pressure onto hers silently asking her to stay. She squeezes his letting him know she won't leave him, then looks up at Andrew. "I will Andrew, I promise. I just don't want to leave him alone. What if he wakes up and I'm not here? The other girls won't sit with him."
"We won't be at Cleveland for a few more hours. As injured as he is, he'll probably sleep til then. You should try and get some sleep as well. Just sit on the floor, lay your head down on the couch near him and close your eyes. He'll be awake before you know it."
"Ok, I will. Andrew? What can you tell me about him? You seem to know him. Who is he?"
"I think we should wait until we get back home. Let me just say that Buffy and Giles are not going to be pleased to see him."
"Why, who is he?"
"Those are questions best left for them to answer, especially Buffy."
"Ok, I'll wait until I can talk to them. But they had better tell me everything." Looking back down to him. "He is an important part of my life."
"Well you get some rest now. We have five more hours until we get there."
Laura looks up and smiles at him. "Ok, I will." Still holding his hand she sat on the floor and laid her head down next him.
Andrew went back to the other girls. Amy looked at him concerned. "Is she going to be ok? You know who that is. Buffy and Giles are so not going to be happy to see him."
"I know but I saw something in her eyes. It's the same look that the bonded slayers have in their eyes when they first meet their watcher. And if that is true, oh boy is that going to be an interesting pair."

"LAURA!" Giles sat up yelling from a sound sleep.
Buffy, startled from her sleep, sat up. "Rupert what is it? What's wrong with Laura?"
Buffy asked, knowing of the sibling bond between Rupert and his sister.
Sweating and shaking Giles looked at Buffy and shook his head. "I don't know. I can't feel her, our light bond, it isn't there."
Hugging him Buffy asked, "Rupert, didn't you say that something like this happened once before?"
Looking into Buffy's eyes Giles nodded. "No, twice. Once when she found me ..., I told you about what happened." Buffy nodded. "She was so hurt and disappointed in me that she broke her bond with me. In a way it was a good thing. Eyghon wasn't able to reach her through it. But it wasn't until I lost you that she helped me to balance myself again by restoring the bond between us. She saved me. Then the second time was when you and I finally bonded."
"Then reach out to her again. You know that she has been going non stop for a few days. She could just be in a deep sleep. And if that doesn't work we'll contact Andrew to see what is happening." Buffy looked at the clock by their bed. "They're in the air by now. We'll have to contact them on the plane."
Giles nodded then started his meditative breathing to calm himself down so he could initiate the psychic contact to find his sister's mind.
Buffy got up to make a phone call.
After about 10 minutes Giles lets out a frustrated sigh. "I can't find her. It's like she's not there. I don't know what to do." Then in a whisper. "Buffy, I'm scared."
Buffy put her arms around her husband. "Don't worry. While you were trying to contact her, I called Xander and asked him to contact the plane. We'll know in a little bit."
After a half hour Xander knocked on their door.
"Come in." they both spoke.
"Buffy, Giles, it's gonna be another hour until we can contact the plane. I also called Wesley and asked him about the girls with Andrew. He said that they all got on the plane together. No one was hurt or missing. And there's something else you need to know. Your not going to like this, but someone else is on the plane with them."
"Who Xander?" asked Buffy.
"Spike is with them."
"What?" Buffy exclaimed. "What do you mean Spike is with them? Last we heard was that he was bonded to Angel and that Spike couldn't leave L.A., with or without him."
"Apparently one of the girls spoke to Andrew: insisted that they take him with them. Wesley said that she never took her eyes off Spike once he was brought out on the stretcher."
"On a stretcher? What happened to him?" Buffy asked.
"Dana had him. She did to Spike what the kidnapper did to her. He was a mess."
"Oh good Lord! I've seen the police report on her kidnapping. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, even Spike." Giles spoke up.
"Wesley also said the same girl walked up to Spike, put her hand on his chest and jerked like she had been shocked. She then smiled. When they went to leave she stayed with him with her hand on his chest."
"Oh God!"
Buffy looked at Rupert. "What? What does that mean?"
Shaking his head Rupert looked at Buffy. "Only a soul mate can break a spell keeping a soul mate from being completely with them. Laura's finally found him."
"Spike is Laura's soul mate? How? What I mean is, they've seen each other before how could they not have bonded before now?"
After a moments thought Rupert spoke, "Think back, both of you, do you ever remember her looking at him; really looking at him? The only times I saw her in the same room with him she either had her hands over her eyes or her eyes were closed. I don't believe she actually saw him."
After a moments thought Buffy spoke up. "I think you're right; she never saw him."
Rupert sat back and sighed. "She wasn't suppose to see him yet."
"What? Why not?"
Rupert got up and went over to the book case in their room. When he got the book he was looking for he turned back to them. Handing it to Buffy he spoke. "You've read this book. I showed it to you when we got to England." When Buffy nodded her head he continued. "The Champion's Prophecy."

After a couple of minutes Laura felt a hand on her head gently caressing her hair. She looked up into the bluest eyes she has ever seen. She felt like she could lose herself in the depths of them. After a minute Laura asked, "Are you real or a figment of my imagination?"
In a soft voice Spike spoke, "I was going to ask you the same thing. Your name is Laura? That's a beautiful name."
"What is your name?"
"My real name is William but people just call me Spike."
Looking down she says his name a few times then looks back up at him. "William, that's a beautiful name too." After a minute her eyes widen at him. "Spike! Oh my God. Andrew was right. Buffy and Rupert are not going to be pleased to see you are they?"
Looking away for a moment Spike gave a sad look. "No, not really." He looked back at her again. "But that doesn't matter now, does it? You look like you're about to fall over. Andrew was right, you need to get some sleep."
"No, I'll be fine. I've had to go longer without sleep recently. I have so many questions..."
"Which can wait until you get some sleep. No arguments young lady."
"William!"
"Don't William me. I'll win this argument. Now lay down and get some sleep."
Shaking her head, "I can't sleep, on an airplane that is, I never have been able to. I promise, when we get to Cleveland I'll sleep then."
"No you won't. Cause once we get there you'll want to tell The Slayer all that happened first. I'll make you a deal. Andrew was right, I need to sleep some more to heal. So how about you lay down up here with me and we will at least rest together. Have we got a deal?"
Shaking her head. "No, I don't want to hurt you. Dana really did a number on you. Please don't be mad at her. Once you hear her history you'll understand. She is going to need a lot of help from all of us to get her though her pain."
"I won't. I kind of got a gist of what happened to her while she did this to me. Now as for you. You won't hurt me. The pain is subsiding. So get up here, lay down and rest, now. No more arguing." Then he smiled at her.
Laura looked at the others, not sure how they would react to her laying down beside him. Then she looked back at him and became lost in the depths of his eyes.
"Come on, Luv. Time to rest." He said softly. Then he held out his hand for her to take.
After a moments hesitation she placed her hand into his and climbed up onto the couch with him. When his arms reached around and gently held her to him, she had the sudden feeling of coming home. Like she was always meant to be there.
At that moment Andrew looked over at the pair and smiled. He understood what it was like. He had the same feeling when he and Amy first met and held each other. Yes, this was going to be an interesting pairing if he ever saw. He was about to turn back to the others when he felt her arms go around him. He leaned back into her and sighed.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked.
"Just remembering the first time I saw you and then held you. It was a feeling of coming home. A feeling I had never really felt until I held you. I see it in both of their eyes. They have bonded already. There will be no splitting up of those two now. Giles is going to be so pissed. You know how protective he is of his sister."
"I know. Don't worry too much about them. They'll be able to handle Buffy and Giles. All Giles has ever wanted for her is to be happy. And what can they say? You know some of the other slayer/watcher pairs have been almost just as odd. You and I for an example. All they thought of you was as a wimp and now look at you. They sent you on an important mission to save Dana from Angel's grasp."
"Yes, you're right, but you don't know his history with Buffy. You see when Buffy was brought back, Spike had convinced her that there was something wrong with her. And she also felt the only way she could feel was if he hit her. Then they would have sex. It wasn't good. And when she finally wised up he almost raped her. Then he went and got his soul back. He said that he loved her and that is why he did it. But by the time he got back she had already moved on. Then the whole First thing. Spike was still around but nobody understood why. Now we know of course, he was the one to be sacrificed this time. He saved us all. I'm not even sure if Buffy and Giles knows he is back."
"Well we can't worry about that right now, can we? You, on the other hand, I can worry about. You have been going since last night. You need to rest as well. The other girls and I have talked and we are going to take shifts watching over her. Three of us at a time. We don't think that just one of us at a time is enough. That bastard really did a number on her. She may not ever be able to fully function as a slayer. If she does, her watcher will have to be a female one. But she needs the help only we can give her. I think when we land in Cleveland you should call ahead and tell them to get all the males out of sight until we get her settled. And her therapist should be a female as well. As for Giles, him and Buffy should present themselves as the leaders to Dana right off. Get it established right away that Giles is the Alpha Watcher and a force to be reckoned with."
"As to you, sit down here and get some rest. I'll sit with you for a while. My time watching Dana is not for two hours so don't worry about me not getting any rest, ok?"
"Ok Amy, I'll get some rest now. Can't do anything until we land in Cleveland. And as for those two over there. It's gonna be fun watching the fireworks."
With one last look at both couches Andrew sat down in a seat by the window with Amy next to him. She sat in the outside seat so when it was time for her to watch over Dana, she wouldn't disturb Andrew when she got up.
An hour later one of the other slayers walked up to Amy.
At the girl's approach Amy was instantly awake. "Jessie? What's wrong? Is Dana ok?"
"Yeah, she's fine. One of the pilots came back here a minute ago. Someone from home is trying to contact Andrew."
"Ok, I'll wake him."
Jessie turned to go back to her seat when she stopped and turned back to Amy. "What is Mr. Giles and Buffy going to say about that?" she asked pointing to Laura and the Vampire.
"I don't think they're going to have a lot to say about it. Andrew and I are of a mind that they have bonded. They're soul mates. Not a lot Buffy and Giles will be able to do about that. They know who he is. They may not be happy to see him but I think they will understand. After a while."
Another of the girls spoke up. "But she is Mr. Giles' sister, how can they not do anything about it? A Vampire as a watcher, they'll freak. Wait a moment. What do you mean they know him? Who is he?"
"That over there is none other than the Vampire Spike. The one who gave his life to save the ones who went down into the Sunnydale Hellmouth."
Both girl's eyes got big at this statement. "That's Spike?" Abigail asked. "He's a legend to us girls who never got to know him." She turned to look at Spike. "He is kind of cute; could you introduce us to him."
"We can but I should warn you now. Those two have just bonded and just bonded pairs are territorial with each other. She won't allow other women close to him, and he will be the same with other men near her."
"It can't be all that bad, can it?" Jessie said skeptically.
"Just ask Fawzia that question. She tried to get friendly with Andrew just after he and I started bonding. Good thing slayer healing works quickly. I gave her a bad beating before the others got me off her."
Dumbfounded Abigail questioned. "But you two are such good friends."
"We are now, but before that she was a minx about men. Any man, she even planned to go after Giles. Luckily some of us heard her plans and told him and Buffy. It very likely saved herself an even worse beating. I'm just glad she has finally found her soul mate. It has turned her around 180°."
"I don't think we had thought of that. I'll warn the others. You'd better get Andrew up to the pilot." And with a nod Jessie left to go back to where the other girls sat. A minute later Abigail followed.
Amy turned to wake Andrew only to find him already awake. "The pilot wants to see you. Somebody from home is trying to contact us."
"I'll go see who is trying to contact us. Hey, thanks for warning the girls. I had forgotten about that." Then he got up, gave her a kiss and left to see who was trying to contact them.
Up in the cockpit Andrew spoke to the co-pilot. "Hey, who's trying to contact us?"
"Mr. Harris is, let me get him for you."
(Author's Note: Not going into the aspects of radio etiquette)
"Xander this is Andrew, what's up?"
"Andrew is everyone ok there?"
"Yea, everyone is fine. Why, what's the matter?"
"Is Laura ok?"
"Yes she's fine, why what's up?"
"Giles is worried about her. You know they have that brother/sister bond, right? Well for some reason he can't feel her, so he's panicking."
"Tell him not to worry, she's fine. We finally got her to lay down and sleep. The first sleep she's had since we left there."
"That's it, nothing else? She's just asleep?"
After a moments pause Andrew spoke again. "Is Giles or Buffy there with you?"
"No they're not. Giles is trying to contact Laura and Buffy is trying to keep him calm. Why?"
"There is something else but it will have to wait until we are there. It's not bad, but she is going to have to tell you all in person."
"What do you mean?"
"It's not my place to tell you guys. I'll only say this; be ready for anything when we get there. Don't tell them I said this but Giles might have a cow over this one. Just be ready for anything, ok?"
"Ok we will. Now one more thing. I contacted Wesley, to see if maybe she had been injured in the confrontation and he said that Spike is with you guys. Is that true?"
"Yes he is and that is something else you need to be ready for when we get there. I'm not going to say anything more. We have three more hours til we get there so I'm off to get some more rest, talk to you later Xander."
"Ok, we'll be waiting at the airport for you guys when you get here. Since Spike is with you guys have the pilots pull into the hanger. We'll have the vans there, one for Dana with our medical people in it, and the others for the rest of you guys."
"Make sure they are all female medical people. She has a hatred for men."
"Yea Wesley kind of gave us the heads up on that one. It's all being arranged right now. Well I'll let you go. Bye for now."
"Bye Xander. See you when we get there."
