Slayer & Watchers Headquarters
The door to Buffy’s office opened and closed rather abruptly as one very upset Council member walked in.
It only took Buffy a moment to understand the situation and with a smile on her face asked, “Bad day?”
Laura took one look at Buffy, carefully sat down and put her head in her hands. “I’m gonna kill them. I love them both dearly but I swear if I hear them say one more time ‘She’s my sister, no she’s my wife’ they are dead. Do you know what they were arguing about this time? Weather or not I should be up on the ladders getting books down for any of the Watchers.”
Buffy shook her head and laughed.
Laura looked up at Buffy. “I don’t remember Rupert being this protective of you at all the whole time you were pregnant for little Robert and little Joyce. Is it going to be this way for the next 6 month? If so I’ll just kill them now and get it over with.”
Still laughing Buffy spoke up. “You didn’t see Rupert being that way cause each time he tried to be over protective I stopped him in his tracks. But you didn’t have what I did. I was pregnant for twins. I had all the slayers watching over me because I was only the second known slayer to get pregnant.” After a moments thought Buffy continued, “If you really think about it, I had it worst than you do. Not just a husband but the whole S & W. Talk about annoying. So no, no killing either one of them, yet.”
Laura smiled a little smile. “Alright, I’ll let them live for now. I wouldn’t know if I could live without him anyway. But you warn Rupert he is at my mercy and he had better straighten up.”
“What about William? What are you going to do to him to straighten him up?”
Laura thought for a moment then got a wicked grin on her face. “What is the one food he has drove us crazy with for the last four months, to the point that Xander can’t stand it for now?”
Buffy smiled and said, “Pizza?”
Laura nodded. “And what can’t you get delivered out to the farm?”
Buffy laughed. “Xander about went nuts that time we stayed out at the farm for a month and he couldn’t get his once a week pizza feast. It will kill William.”
Laura smile at the memory. It was right after Willow brought the spell back from South America and changed him back into a human.
Life at the Cleveland headquarter had been too hectic for either William to get any of the rest he really needed to heal or Laura to recover from her travels. William was always being stopped by the slayers and asked to tell his story. So after a week the Council heads, which now included William, headed back to England. Laura and William went straight out to the farm while the rest waited a week to follow, to give them time alone. It was then that she finally got to show him her past. Laura enjoyed her dreamtime as much as William did because she got to remember things she had forgotten, such is the way of growing up. Though it was hard for her when her parents, Mitchell her first watcher and father appeared to them and gave them their blessings.
Laura was brought out of her reminiscing by Buffy’s voice. Realizing that she had missed part of the conversation, Laura was about to ask her to repeat what she had said when the door to Buffy’s office opened and in walked Wesley and Illyria. Wesley had a very serious upset look on his face.
Just as Buffy was about to ask what was up Wesley spoke in a strained voice. “You two need to come to the training room.”
Both of them rose to leave the office. Buffy was the first to ask what was wrong.
“Lea got hurt during training a few minutes ago. Not bad hurt, I know nothing new, but when she started to rise off the floor she doubled over in pain and then grabbed her head. She passed out for a moment and when she came too she had a funny look on her face. When I started over to her to see if she was ok she jumped up, held up her hand and said something.”
Concerned Buffy ask, “What did she say Wes?”
“That’s just it; we’re not quite sure what all she said.”
“What do you mean you don’t know what she said?” Getting a little worried Buffy thought to Rupert, (Rupert I think we have a situation.)
(I’m on my way Love.)
Wesley shook his head. “I understood a word here or there but all the words she spoke together were in different languages.”
Illyria spoke up at that moment. “A few of the words were even in demon languages. Two were in my follower’s ancient tongue.” Illyria looked right at Laura. “It was because of those words which we knew we needed to have you there.”
Confused Laura asked, “What words did she say?”
Wesley spoke up then. “Laura, she said Hidden One.”
Laura confused looked from Buffy back to Wesley. “Hidden One: she wants to talk to me?”
Illyria again spoke up. “No not just to you. The few other words that were understood were Slayers Champion, and The First.”
“Slayers Champion: she wants to talk to William as well? What could she want with me and William?” Laura shook her head then she thought about the meaning of Slayers Champion. Her eyes widened and she started to panic.
Feeling her panic William contacted her. (Laura, what’s wrong Luv?)
Feeling lost Laura reached to him. (William.)
(Laura where are you?)
Laura looked around and asked. “Where?”
Buffy walked up to her sister-in-law and put her arm around her. “Let’s go the gym find out what’s up. I contacted Rupert and he is on his way.”
(William, go to the gym. We’re needed there.)
Just as they got to the gym Rupert and William came up to them. Rupert was the first to speak up.
“Buffy what’s up? Why did you need me at the gym?”
“Lea had an accident then started speaking in different languages. The only words anyone recognized were Hidden One, The First and Slayer’s Champion.” Rupert turned to his sister. “Laura?”
Since William had walked up to her Laura had been hugging him. Laura looked up at William then looked to her brother. “I have a bad feeling about this Rupert.”
Rupert looked at her for a minute more. “What ever it is we’ll face it together. Let’s go inside.”
Laura looked up to William and he smiled back. “Come on, he’s right. We’ll face it together.”
Laura smiled and nodded her head.
Then as if as one they all turned toward the gym doors and opened them. Inside the usually noisy gym they were met with silence and everyone was looking toward the center and was as if waiting for something to happen.
>From across the room they saw that it was Lea, Wesley’s Slayer and soul mate. As soon as she saw them approach she once again started speaking in the different languages.
Laura and William had hung to the back of everyone, but when they came around them she instantly began speaking English.
“The First will come again and in that battle will the fate of this world and all the others be decided. Guard well The Slayer for she will be reborn again. But if she is not protected by The Slayer’s Champion until she bonds with her Watcher all will be lost. She will descend from the Hidden One and the Champion. The Champion must become again that which he was before for only that way will he live long enough to fulfill his destiny.”
Laura instantly started shaking her head no. “NO! No I just found him and now you’re going to take him away from me.”
Lea spoke once again. “Five years Hidden One. In five years he must become again that which he was or all will be lost. In those five years the one the Slayer reborn will descend from will be born.”
Then Lea turned to Wesley. “Your Slayer is well and will return unharmed. To change the Champion back seek out his grandsire. Do to him as you did to Angel to make him become Angelis then to make him Angel again. Before I go I will try and answer your questions. But I am restricted from some answers.” As she looked around she looked to Rupert and Buffy.
“How long until the Slayer will be reborn?”
“I know not the timing of this world but I do know that only the Champion will be alive when she is born.” Lea started to close her eyes and droop down. “My time here is done, Hidden One. The fate of the Universe rests in your hands.”
Laura looked to William then back to Lea. After a moment she bowed her head. “For our decedents.”

The book closed and the young woman looked up and smiled. “I love hearing the part when you finally met. I wish I had known her. In a lot of ways she sounds like mother.”
Taking the book from her hands he smiled too. “In a lot of ways she is like your mother. But you look like her.”
“When do you think I’ll meet my Watcher? I’ve started my training but shouldn’t I be training with him?”
“Tired of training with an old man are you? Don’t worry Aislynn we have all the unattached Watchers waiting to meet you tomorrow.”
They heard a sound from the door and as they both turned a man stepped into the room. “Hey now it’s past your bed time young lady.” Then he turned to William. “And you promised not to keep her up so late.”
“I know James but she won’t let me stop until the end, even though she has heard it all her life.”
James smiled at his grandfather many times removed. “I know. We have all loved hearing it over the years. None more than me are glad you stayed to protect her.”
“Grandfather? Thank you for staying to protect me.”
“When she said for our decedents, I knew I had to stay for this final battle. She made a promise and I have kept it. Now you have a long day of training and tomorrow you meet the Watchers in training. It’s time you got some sleep.”
As Aislynn lay down she asked in a quiet voice. “When will you leave?”
”When you win and the First is defeated for good then I will join her where ever she is.” William got up, put Laura’s journal on the nightstand and bent over to kiss her on the forehead then he headed for the door. “Goodnight my Little Bit.”
She smiled at the nickname he had always called her. “Goodnight Grandfather. Goodnight Father.”
James walked over to her bed and tucked her in then kissed her as well. “Goodnight Little One.” As he walked away he knew she was already starting to fall asleep because he heard her talking.
As she started to fall asleep she spoke her nightly description of her soul mate. “Tall, dark hair, mustache, goatee, beautiful green eyes, and the voice of an angel.’
William smiled and looked to heaven. “Soon my love, we’ll be together soon.” He had heard her describe him before and knew that one of the unattached Watchers she was to meet tomorrow fit her description.
As James started out the door he said, “She hasn’t even met Kevin yet and already she knows him.”
“That is the way with soul mates. Laura said she used to dream of me for years.”
William turned back and looked at her one more time then closed the door to her room and went to rest knowing he would need it for the battle ahead. And to dream to her and let her know it would be soon.
