Author's note 1: This is a response to the couple shuffle challenge from Slayer Comma The. The challenge will be listed at the end of the story.
Author's note 2: I use single quotes to denote thoughts.
It started with a spell. She had found out about Buffy and Spike. She didn't know what kind of relationship it was, but Buffy was being hurt. That much she knew. So she cast a spell. Of course the others were upset when they had caught her.
"Dawn, what are you doing?" Xander asked.
"Nothing," Dawn said as she tried to block his view. "Nothing at all."
"Looks like she's casting a spell," Anya said.
"Only a little one."
"This had better not be like the time you tried to bring your mom back," Xander scolded.
"It's not. I promise. I just found out that Buffy's in a bad relationship with someone. I was doing a spell to break them up." Dawn gathered the supplies from the floor.
"Who's she seeing?" Anya asked.
"I think she's been seeing Spike, and I think his chip is messed up somehow. He's been hurting her."
"Spike?" Xander asked. "That can't be right."
"Why not?" Anya asked. "Look at her other boyfriends. She doesn't have the best track record."
"I heard Buffy crying one night," Dawn explained. She was talking to herself about how she's tried to end it, but she can't. So I decided to do something."
She would never know if it was something she did wrong or because she was interrupted, but soon everyone in town was breaking up with their boyfriends and girlfriends. By the end of the day the whole town was miserable.
