"I think you should stay." The voice was Giles'. Buffy knew that, but his voice didn't sound quite right. It sounded like a mix of a proper British accent and a cheesy Transylvanian accent.

Buffy remained still, waiting to see what he would do. "Why are you down here?" she asked.

"Just looking around," he said absentmindedly.

"We should go upstairs," Buffy told him. "It's cold down here."

"I like the cold," he whispered. "I especially like the effect it has on you." She felt him blow cool air across her shoulder and neck and felt the goose bumps spring up. He reached an arm around her to pull her closer, brushing a hardening nipple along the way. "You'll enjoy the cold, Buffy. It makes your body more responsive." He licked her neck before blowing more cool air over the damp skin, causing a shiver to run through her.

"I'd rather be warm," Buffy said.

"Parts of you can be warm," he said before kissing her neck.

The soft kisses soon became small nips, and Buffy moaned at the sensations. She began to wonder why she'd been worried. When she felt him bite her, she pulled away and turned slightly to see him. Panic shot through her when she saw the drops of blood on his lips.

She jabbed her elbow into his stomach and ran upstairs. She made it as far as the living room before he caught up with her.

"I thought you were enjoying yourself," Giles said as he grabbed her arm and spun her around to face him.

"Is that what you thought," Buffy hissed. "Do you think I like having my neck bitten?"

"There are other places I can bite." He leaned closer. "Biting the inside of the thigh can be very pleasurable for both of us - or breasts, if that's what you prefer." His hand cupped a breast. "I'll only take a taste."

Buffy knocked his feet out from under him and brought the sword down to rest at his throat. "What is wrong with you? You're not a vampire, Giles. You've got to be under a spell."

For the second time that night, the phone rang. She didn't dare answer it. Not after what happened before.

The machine picked up. "I suspect you have your hands full," a female voice said. "So, just listen. Your precious Watcher isn't a vampire - not yet - but he will be soon enough. Your only hope of controlling him is to let him bite you. He won't seek others if he has you to sustain him. You can't stop the transformation, and you'll only endanger others if you fight it. Let him taste you. You might enjoy it."

"See? I knew it was a spell," she muttered.

Buffy didn't remember taking her eyes off Giles, but in an instant he was standing with her sword in his hand. "Giles, don't do anything stupid. I'm sure we can fix this. I know you don't want to be a vampire. We can stop this."

He didn't speak but advanced towards her with the sword. Instinct took over, and Buffy kicked the sword from his grip. It flew through the window, sending glass everywhere. Her mind raced as she pushed Giles away. Suddenly a thought struck her. "Willow! She tried to warn me." She remembered Willow saying something about the costume and to destroy something.

"Stop teasing and come here," Giles ordered.

She would need to get close if she wanted to destroy the cursed costume. Fighting her instincts, she walked to him and let him do as he wished. He didn't immediately bite her, and she heaved a sigh of relief. As he began trailing kisses over her face and neck, she removed his cape. She ripped it and threw it aside. When there was no change, she pulled off more clothing, tearing each one as she did - the bow tie, the jacket, the vest, the shirt.

Giles began alternating kisses and small nips, just barely drawing blood. Buffy tried to ignore it as she ripped his pants off him. There was still no change, except that his heartbeat had slowed and he felt colder. Buffy tried to fight the panic and think of what she might have missed.

"It's your turn now," Giles whispered in her ear. He started to undo the buttons on the front of her pajama shirt.

She backed up. "No. I was only trying to -"

"Undress me?"

"Yes. No. I was trying to break the spell." She backed up again and felt something under her foot. When she looked down, she saw the chain of a pocket watch hanging out of the vest pocket. Quickly, she pulled away from Giles, grabbed the stake from her waistband, and brought the but end of it down on the watch, smashing it.

Giles staggered and fell - right onto her.

"Buffy, what happened?"
