Part Three

(Living Room)

Buffy was still beaming as she looked at him.

"Giles, I was thinking-"

"Giles?!" Dawn called from upstairs, interrupting her sister.

"Yes, Dawn?" Giles answered her, sending Buffy an apologetic smile for the interruption.

"Have you seen my math book?"

"On your night stand" He yelled back.

"Oh, thanks!"

Buffy giggled as Giles looked at her.

"What?"

"Nothing. It's just, I don't know"

"Just what, Buffy?" He was intrigued as to what she was going to say.

"It's just strange. It's like, we're all this one big family. You're the dad, Dawn's the kid and I'm...."

"Your?"

"Buffy, where's my sweater?" Dawn called down to her.

Sighing, Buffy answered her sister.

"Which one?"

"The one you borrowed last night!"

"The one I...? I didn't borrow a sweater from you last night!" Buffy growled as she stood and went to the bottom of the stairs.

As the sisters continued their arguing, Giles watched Buffy. Wondering what she was going to say before Dawn interrupted them. For the slightest moment he was hoping she was going to say she was like his wife, but that was wishful thinking. Buffy would never fell that way towards him. No matter how close the watcher and his slayer had become over the last few months, he was sure, it would never be anything beyond friendship.

"Giles?"

"Hmm, yes? S-Sorry"

Grinning at him, Buffy stood in front of Giles.

"it's ok, you sure your all right?"

"Oh, yes. I was just...thinking"

"That was kinda obvious. Anything you wanna share?"

"It really wasn't that important"

"Ah. Well, Dawn's almost ready, so would you like me to get you some toast from the kitchen or something?"

"No thank you. I'm not really hungry"

"Ok. Promise me your good enough to go to work though?"

With a tender smile he told her.

"I promise. See" Giles stood up, trying to prove to Buffy that he was ok, but almost ended up falling when a dizzy spell hit him. Buffy moved quickly to grab his arms. Their mouths ends up only inches from each other as their eyes locked and time seemed to stand still.

Buffy's hands tightened on Giles arms. He felt his heart beating faster inside his chest as her breath touched his lips. Their bodies were so close he could fell her thigh brushing his.

"Giles?"

"Hmm?"

"What happen? You ok?"

"Happen? Oh, oh yes. S-s-sorry"

"You must have hit your head harder than you thought, huh?"

With a grin, he answered.

"I suppose I did"

"Maybe we should take you to the ER?"

"No, that's not necessary. It's normal after a head injury to become light headed. It won't last"

"I guess you would know" She teased as Giles gave her a *look*. He felt her fingers moving on his arms as she held his eyes.

"Yes, ha bloody ha"

Chuckling, Buffy let her eyes fall to his lips. Wondering what it would be like to just lean in the few inches that separated them and take Giles into a kiss.

Giles meanwhile, watched her eyes fall to his mouth. Wondering what she was thinking. Wondering why she was still holding on to him. It wasn't like Buffy to be so close.

To look at him with such...wanting? In her eyes.

"Buffy?" He softly called to her, causing Buffy to lift her eyes back to his. Giles laid a hand to her cheek, stroking her with his thumb, loosing himself in the moment. "Is everything... are you ok?"

"Buffy? Giles? Where's my backpack!"

Watcher and Slayer sighed, then backed away from one another. Before they could answer her, Dawn yelled to them 'never mind she found it,' then bounded down the stairs.

"Ok, I'm ready. Come on Giles we're going to be late! Sheesh, can't you get ready ahead of time for once" Dawn announced as she opened the door and walked out.

Buffy watched Giles sigh, shaking his head then reached for his car keys off the arm of the couch.

"You sure you'll be ok?"

"Yes, thank you. Unfortunately I don't have slayer healing, so, these things just take time"

He smiled then went to the front door.

"Giles?"

"Yes?" He turned to see Buffy walking to him.

"When you get home, we'll go for your costume"

Smiling, Giles asked.

"What will you be wearing?"

"I'll see after we get you something"

"Matching costumes you mean?" He was really intrigued now.

"Yeah, like batman and robin, lone ranger and tanto" She was smiling as he chuckled.

"Lone ranger and tanto?"

"I couldn't think of anything else"

The phone started ringing and Buffy went to get It as Giles turned to leave.

"Wait, Giles!" She called to him.

"Hmm?"

"Come home early tonight, ok?"

"Ok" he smiled as Buffy answered the phone.
