(Sunnydale general hospital)

After getting his neck looked at, Giles went to Buffy’s room to see how she was. When he arrived at the door, he found it slightly open and heard Spike talking with her. Giles didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but he couldn’t help it when he heard his name spoken from her lips.

“I just want to know if he’s all right Spike. He’s my watcher.”

“Ex-watcher.”

“Whatever. I still want to make sure Giles is ok”

“I thought you were mad at him?”

“I was.”

“Was or am?”

“Why do you care? Why are you harping on this?”

“I’m not, it’s just, when Faith and I were standing there and you two were going at it –“

“We were not!”

“You were so. I thought for a moment I was going to have step in between you.”

“I would never hurt Giles,” Buffy said softly as she rubbed her head.

“You did hit him.”

“So?”

“So you’re the Slayer, he’s, well not. That had to hurt.”

Buffy closed her eyes.

“I did, didn’t I? I was hoping that was just me daydreaming.”

“You daydream about hitting Giles?” Spike asked with a grin.

“No! I daydream about him…never mind.”

“What do you mean never mind'? You can't say something like that and then just say 'never mind'!”

“Really? Watch me,” Buffy snapped at him as Spike sighed.

“I was afraid of this. I knew this would happen sooner or later.”

“What are you rambling on about?”

“You and Giles.”

“What about us?”

“You figured it out.”

“Are you even speaking in English or is my head hurting that much?”

Spike got off the bed and began to pace.

“I told you, I asked you, what…two years ago? When Giles left and you were so upset, I asked you if you and he had a thing!”

“And I said we didn’t!”

“But you do!”

“WE do not!”

“Geeze, Buffy! Even I can't deny it anymore! Not after tonight!”

“Spike, Giles hates me! He doesn’t think of me in any way-“

“If he feels anything for you at all, it's love Buffy. Not hate. Stop trying to patronize me!”

“I’m not!”

“Are you really this dense?!”

“Hey! Watch it, dust rag!”

“Oh, you wound me with your words.”

“What the hell has gotten into you tonight, Spike?!”

“I can't do this, Buffy. I love you but not enough to compete with Giles”

“Again, English.”

Sighing, Spike took a seat by her side.

“Stop lying to me and yourself, Buffy. We both know why no other relationship has ever worked for you.”

Buffy lowered her eyes.

“No one knew I …how do you know?”

“I can see it. I can… feel it. I know when you hold me, kiss me…you don’t really…I know your thinking of him, Buffy. I knew from the moment I asked you in the alley if there was something going on between the two of you. Even when you looked at me and lied to my face, I knew you loved him. But I didn’t care. I wanted you so badly I thought I could get you to forget him.”

“I never meant to use you, Spike.”

“I know that. I also know now that I can't do this.”

Buffy closed her eyes and sighed heavily. Giles, who was listening from the door, was in shock. There was no way in hell she loved him! There couldn’t be! She pushed him away every chance she got!

When Buffy spoke this time, her voice was trembling as tears gathered in her eyes.

“He hates me, Spike. I hit him tonight! On purpose! I didn’t mean to, he just got me so angry!”

“I know, Buffy. I also know Giles could never hate you.”

“You’re being awfully understanding.”

Spike used his thumb and wiped away a fallen tear from her cheek.

“It’s this damn soul. Reeks hell on my conscience.”

Buffy smiled shyly as he held her hand.

“I think it’s time you and I moved on.” Spike whispered

“Yeah, face the fact that I can’t have Giles and-“

“No, I mean, after we defeat the first I think I should go.”

“Go? Go where?”

“I don’t know, maybe LA, see if Angel needs some help.”

“Angel? He hates you”

“You use to hate me too. But now we have something in common, well a couple things actually. I think we’ll manage.” He was smiling at her as Buffy squeezed his hand and told him

“I wish I could love you. You’re so different now, you deserve it. But I-“

“It’s ok, I know. I’ve always know, just never wanted to accept it.”

“So, you’re really leaving me after we defeat the first?”

“Yes, I think it’s for the best.”

“Yeah…Giles will go to. He’s got a life now. Far away from me.”

Spike lay at her side and held her.

“If you two ever actually talked, I think the world would explode.”

Buffy sniffed as she wiped away a tear.

“I lost him, Spike, and he’s happy in England. I don’t want to take that from him. He deserves to be there, to live his life worry free.”

“You’re his life, Buffy.”

“I use to be. Before I turned into Queen Bitch.”

“You had your reasons.”

“Yeah, all of which at this moment, seem rather…” Buffy swallowed as she started to cry again. “I just miss him so much. I want us back, I want us to be ok again but I don’t know how to fix it. I don’t know how to make it right….I don’t even know if I have the right to ask it of him to try things again with me.”

“He loves you. He’ll try if you ask. If you explain everything you’re feeling to him.”

Buffy lifted her head to look at him.

“Why are you doing this?”

“If you love something enough, set it free. I do, so I am.”

Buffy smiled as Spike kissed her forehead.

“I bet you were a wonderful human.”

Spike chuckled.

“Can't really remember to be honest.”

They were silent for a moment till Buffy spoke up.

“Spike?”

“Hmm?”

“Will you tell Angel hi for me?”

Though it tore at Spikes heart to loose her, he smiled and kissed the top of her head.

“Of course.”

(Sunnydale General Hospital)

Giles stood outside her door still in shock at what he had heard. Buffy was in love with him.

“G, you ok?”

Giles looked at Faith, his eyes holding his shocked feelings for her to see.

“Giles, what’s wrong?”

“Buffy…”

“Is she ok?”

Giles shook his head as he swallowed then walked off across the way to have a seat. Faith joined him, taking his hand in hers.

“You gonna tell me why you look like your about to toss your cookies?”

Giles half-smiled.

“I do?”

“You do.”

He gripped Faith's hand tighter and turned to her.

“She loves me.”

“Who?”

“Buffy. I…overheard her accidentally”

Faith laughed.

“On accidentally?”

“Yes,” Giles said, defending himself. “I was merely going to see how she was and she was talking with Spike so I decided to wait for the right moment to walk in…”

“Uh huh.”

“I was.”

“Right, anyways, you were saying?”

“I overheard her with Spike.”

“Eavesdropper.”

“Faith.”

She giggled as he glared at her.

“So now what?”

“I don’t know….”

“Well, you're not just gonna sit here are you? I mean isn’t this what you wanted?”

“Well, yes, but…”

“But?”

“I just, find it hard to believe.”

Giles leaned back in his chair and ran his hands through his hair.

“Giles, be the man in the graveyard. The one who was brave enough to kiss me and pour everything he was feeling into that kiss.”

Giles looked over at Faith.

“Are you serious? Kiss Buffy like I kissed you?”

“If you want her you will.”

“Faith-“

“Stop trying to find the bad thing in this. You just heard her with your ears, Giles! She loves you too! Take her!”

Giles eyes got wide as Faith laughed.

“Well, not literally and not here, unless you’re feeling a little like Ripper, which in that case, may I ask if we can have at first?”

She smiled wickedly at him as Giles looked like he was about to pass out.

“Faith!”

She really started to laugh now.

“Sorry, just, wanted to see, the look on your face.”

He glared at her again before smiling.

“If I was free, you would be mine.”

“Ohhh, possessive, I like.” She leaned into him and kissed his cheek. “Go get her, G.”

“Spike's in there.”

“So? Kick him out."

“I can’t do that.”

“I can.”

Giles chuckled

“Thank you for the offer but I’ll just wait till he leaves.”

“Ok, but don’t say I didn’t ever offer you anything.”

“You’ve offered me quite a bit actually.” His sly grin made her smile.

“And I meant all of it.”

“I bet you did.”

Faith licked her lips at his wicked grin then rested her forehead to his. She sighed softly.

“I wish things were this easy with Wes.”

“They could be”, Giles told her softly as he reached for her hand again and held it.

“Yeah right.”

“Faith-“

“Trust me when I say, Wes and I, we're nothing like you and B.”

“I know. However-“

“You hungry? Cause I’m staving.” Faith stood up, looking around before she spotted the cafeteria sign. “Cool, food. Or prolly something that closely resembles it. You want anything, G?”

“No, thank you,” he told her with a warm smile. Faith returned the gesture before turning and leaving. Sighing, Giles did something he knew he shouldn’t have because it was none of his business, except that Faith was his business in a way…Giles got up and went to the pay phone, and called Wesley.

**

Faith was gone longer than she should have been and Giles was starting to worry. He stood to check on her when Spike came out of Buffy’s room.

“Giles.”

“Spike.”

They were silent for a moment before Spike told him.

“She’s feeling much better. They're just keeping here for observation. In case you were wondering.”

“I've all ready talked to her doctor.”

“Ah.”

Another moment passed without word as Giles caught Faith out of the corner of his eye. Wesley had just come off the elevator and bumped into her on accident. They looked shocked then relieved to see one another.

“Must be watcher/slayer season,” Spike mumbled as Giles turned to look at him.

“What?”

“Never mind. Look, you win, mate. She belonged to you long before I ever had a chance. So, go in there and make her happy. You’re the only one who can.” Spike walked off towards Wes and Faith who were in deep conversation.

He decided to take a nice long walk thorough the graveyard before going home. He had some extra energy to work off tonight….

**

Giles stood at Buffy’s side, watching her sleep.

Lord, how he missed her. His heart ached for them to be right with each other once again. Their fighting, the distance that was wedged between them now…closing his eyes for a moment, Giles decided to listen to Faith. He took a breath and releasing it slowly, Giles went to Buffy and slid into bed at her side.

He took into his arms, holding her tight as she snuggled closer to his body. Her head rested on his chest as her one of her hands laid over his belly.

“Hmm, Giles…”

The watcher felt his pulse quicken as she tilted her face up to place a kiss to his neck.

Did she know he was there?

“Buffy?” His whisper went unanswered as Giles realized she must have been dreaming. He smiled affectionately when he felt her hand slip under his shirt to rub his tummy.

“Buffy? Wake up, darling.”

She made a noise that clearly stated she didn’t want to as Giles slid his fingers under her chin and lifted her face up to his.

“Wake up, dear heart. I have something to give you.”

Buffy’s eyes fluttered as she slowly opened them and saw Giles there.

“Giles?”

“Hi.”

Buffy was momentarily stunned as he smiled at her.

“What are you…where’s Spike?”

“On his way home I believe. And, I’m here because I have something to give you”

“You do?”

“Oh, yes.”

“What?”

“My heart.”

Buffy didn’t know what to say as Giles leaned closer.

“An this…” he whispered, then laid his lips to hers, drawling a moan from Buffy. If this was dream, she didn’t want to ever wake up, she thought as she felt Giles’ tongue tracing the outline of her mouth. She opened to him with out a second thought as he slipped inside her mouth and tasted her.

They both made a sound deep within their throats as Giles slid his tongue alone hers, in slow, attentive strokes. Caressing the recesses of her mouth as his hand that held her chin up, slid down her neck, pulling the fabric of her nightshirt, that she had Spike buy her from the gift shop, down.

Exposing her soft, golden skin to his seeking fingers.

Giles growled into her mouth as he felt her hand on his stomach, move up his torso, sliding over his ribs ever so lightly till they reached one of his nipples. She played with it till it was hard from her teasing then she pinched him lightly. Giles made another sound of pleasure as he deepened the kiss, sucking her tongue into his mouth, while her fingers continued to play with him.

Only a few short moments later, he broke the kiss to look into her eyes. Both were catching their breath as Giles’ thumb ran over her rapidly beating pulse in her neck as his palm covered her collar bone.

“Nice gift,” she whispered as he smiled at her, never taking his eyes from hers.

“I want to make things right between us, Buffy. No matter how hard we--I have to work at it. I hope we can start to mend our hearts as well as our bond.”

“You keep kissing me like that and I’ll mend anything you want.”

Giles laughed then kissed her again.

“I love you, darling.” His soft confession lightly touched her lips as Buffy pulled back to look into his eyes. ”You do? Really? Even after everything…Giles, I have been so bad to you…” Buffy lightly touched the black, purple and blue mark next to his mouth. Her fingers tracing the bruised skin to his jaw as tears collected in her eyes. “I never meant to hurt you. I can’t believe I hit you”

Giles held her close, wrapping his arms around her when he saw her tears starting to spill free.

“Darling, Shhh. It’s all right. I know you didn’t.” Kissing the top of her head, Giles reached for her thigh with his hand and brought it over his hip. He moved against her as she playfully hit his chest, after letting out a low growl.

“Stop trying to make me feel better. I hurt you-“

“And I hurt you. Unfortunately. And undoubtedly we probably will again. But Darling, it’s all going to be all right now. I promise you”

“How can you know that?”

“Because we’ll be together. Nothing can be worse than being without you.”

Buffy lifted her eyes to his and smiled sadly.

“I want to make things right. I want us back”

“I want those things as well.”

“You seem to be wanting a lot of things at the moment, Mr. Giles,” Buffy joked as she grabbed his hard shaft through his jeans. Giles groaned and moved against her hand as Buffy smiled. “Take me home, Giles”

“W-what?”

Giggling, Buffy released him.

“Home. Tonight.” She got up and felt great as she walked to get her clothes from the small closet in the room.

“Tonight?”

“Yup. I feel fine. I want to go.”

“But, Buffy…”

“No. Now either you can help me, and when we get home I’ll make sure you walk funny for a week, or…I’ll get out of here myself and you won't get anything but a sore back from the couch.”

“Only a week?“ he asked wickedly, a touch of Ripper shinning in his eyes. Buffy felt her breath catch as she watched him move to her.

“Well, I am hurt you know…” She trailed off when he reached her and without warning, leaned into her and ran his tongue along her neck. “N-Not as bad, but…oh…nice..” She held on to him, her hands going to his arms when she felt his teeth scrap her throat before he bit her softly.

“Oh…that’s…wow”

“As long as you’re absolutely positive that if I take…” Giles moved his mouth to her jaw, kissing her there till he reached her chin, then he lifted his eyes to hers.

Buffy she saw something mischievous swimming in his green emeralds as he went on.

“You home, you’ll tell me as soon as you start to feel lightheaded.”

“I think I’m feeling that now,” she breathed as Giles laughed.

“Sweet talker.”

Buffy smiled.

“I’m feeling good, I promise. Take me home and find out just how much”

Giles let a grin touch his lips as he reached for Buffy’s cloths and handed them to her.

“I’ll get take care of the release papers.”

“You do that.” She smiled as he kissed her.

“I will, but you know if I really thought you weren’t ok, we wouldn’t be doing this.”

“I know. That’s why I love you.”

“Oh, so that’s why?” he joked as his hands ran lazily along her arms.

“One of the many, many, many, many, many, many, many, reasons why”

Chuckling, Giles kissed her again.

“I’ll be right back, you get dressed.”

“Deal.”

**

After taking care of her papers, Giles caught sight of Faith and Wesley sitting in the waiting room. Wes was holding Faith's hand in his as the rogue slayer leaned into her watcher and kissed him. Giles smiled brightly as he watched them. He was so happy Faith was going to be ok. And so was Wesley by the looks of it.

“So, you like to watch? Isn’t that kind of…shanky,” Buffy joked as she wrapped her arms around Giles waist from beside him. The watcher laughed at her, remembering so long ago when she said those very words to him.

“Yes, well, what can I say. I like them young.”

Buffy opened her mouth in shock then slapped his arm playfully.

“Hey!”

Laughing, Giles pulled her in front of him and kissed her. He only meant for the kiss to be light and promising, only it soon turned passionate and heated. Buffy gripped his hair in her hands, holding him to her as Giles slid his tongue into her mouth possessively.

Neither knew how long the kiss lasted, till Faith and Wes came up to them and cleared their throats.

“Hey, you two, enough with the floor show. The nurses are starting to take bets to see who comes up first for air.”

Buffy and Giles laughed against each others mouths and pulled apart.

“Oh dear,” Giles mumbled, his cheeks looking slightly red as Buffy wrapped her arms around him. God, she loved him. He was so adorable, so loving…she was going to make sure tonight, he knew just how much he meant to her.
