PART ONE

(London - England- Castle -Night)

Rain poured in heavy sheets as lightening and thunder clapped in the sky. Buffy stayed close to her Watcher as he led them into the old, creepy looking home. Giles held the crossbow, which had a small flash light, mounted to the top of it in his left hand. When they entered the old home, he put it on the lowest beam and shined it out in front of him.

The light made its way around them room. It seemed to be a living room that was connected to a hallway that led off into several others. Dust covered everything. And the furniture seemed to all be covered with old white sheets.

"Giles, he isn't here, let's go" Buffy whispered to him as he turned to his left and headed down another hallway slowly. Buffy grabbed the back of his jacket so she wouldn't lose him and looked at all the cobwebs hanging from the doorways, the ceiling and corners of the walls.

"I saw him run in here " Giles whispered back." And it's your duty to hunt and slay him"

"Maybe it is back in Sunnydale, but in London???"

"Anywhere, it's your duty Buffy. Not just Sunnydale"

"But, Gilessss, its SO creepy in here!"

"Don't let your imagination run away with you. There's nothing in this castle but that vampire-"

Giles' whisper was cut off as a low moaning sound was heard throughout the house. Then a cold breeze washed over them as Buffy's eyes went wide and Giles swallowed hard.

"Nothing else huh?"  the Slayer whispered harshly as Giles turned to her and glared.

"That was just...the wind"

"The wind? So the wind here moans?"

"Yes, no, but its storming outside Buffy and this is an old castle. Weird sounds, unexplainable ones even are bound to be heard"

Giles continued down the hallway as Buffy gripped his jacket even tighter.

"I can't believe you got me into this"

"Me?"

"Yes you! If YOU had never left Sunnydale in the first place then I never would have had to fly halfway across the world to bring you home"

"Home?"

Giles stopped causing Buffy to run into his back. He turned to her with questioning eyes.

"Yeah, home. Sunnydale is your home, with us. Your family" Her voice dropped even lower as she finished her sentence but Giles heard her. Happiness filled him.

He smiled down at the young woman in front of him.

"Yes, Home"

"You...you mean you miss us too?"

"Yes, of course I miss all of you Buffy"

"We've, I've, been really good Giles. I-I got a job, and although it sucks, I'm sticking with it. And, and Dawnie was stealing, but I took over the authority role and she listens to me now. Well, as much as any teen will listening to someone. And-"

Giles laid a finger to her lips to stop her. He was grinning as she looked at him.

"I know"

With her right hand, Buffy removed her Watcher's hand from her face, then closed her own around his.

"How do you know?"

"I...I had someone watching over you"

"You did?"

"Yes,"

"Who?"

"A friend"

"Got that part, kinda, but, who?"

Out of the corner of his eye, Giles caught sight of the vampire they were chasing charging at his Slayer. The Watcher pushed Buffy out of the way as the vampire slammed into him, and they fell to the ground. Then through the floor to the basement below.

"Giiilees?"

Buffy got up off the floor as soon as she could and went to the hole where her Watcher fell through.

"Giles?!"

"I'm (cough) all right"

Giles stood, grabbing a stake from the back of his pants pocket, and looked around for the vampire.

"I'm coming down-"

"No! I-I can't see him Buffy. Stay there. It might be a trick"

"You want me to leave you alone down there?"

"Yes, for now. Just stay where you are"

"No way. I can't leave you-"

Buffy was cut off as she heard a low moaning next to her ear. She stood and turned around quickly but nothing was there.

"Buffy?"

"Giles, we SO have to get out here!"

"We will. You still have your stake?"

"Yes"

"Good, then keep your back to a wall and keep an eye out. I don't like this"

"You're not the only one"

Giles looked around the large room. He cautiously approached a few boxes laying on the floor and started to look over them slowly. His heart started to pound faster at the thought of what might be behind them. As he moved even closer Buffy broke the silence.

"Giles?"

"Good lord Buffy! Do you mind!"

"What I do?!"

"You nearly gave me a bleedin' heart attack!"

"Me? I -"

Buffy heard a scuffle as Giles was thrown across the room and into a large pile of old creates. Which broke into many pieces when his body hit them. One of the larger ones, sliced through the Watcher's flesh at his side. Giles called out in agony as Buffy jumped into the hole below. Dust filtered into the air as she landed, and coughed, waving her hand through the cloud to see. Standing, she saw yellow eyes charging at her.

Thinking quickly, Buffy grabbed her stake off the ground and slammed into the vampire's chest as it came closer. The creature bellowed out as it turned to dust.

"Giles? Where are you?"

"Over here"

She could here his voice was strained as she walked towards the sound of him trying to move. On her way she found, or rather tripped over his crossbow. Picking it up, Buffy hit the flashlight with her palm and the light flicked back on.

Flashing the light around the room, she found Giles leaning against a wall.

"Got ya"

She sighed, relived to see him alive and trying to move. But when she reached him, she saw the large piece of wood sticking into his side. His blood was pouring out the wound and down to the floor. Thick and heavy.

"Oh God. Giles..."

"It's...it isn't, that bad-" His voice sounded weak as he tried to move.

"I'd hate to see what you think is  bad"

Buffy moved his arm to look closer at the wound.

"We need a hospital Giles"

"Couldn't agree with you more"

"Stay here, I'll go find a way out"

"Right, cause, otherwise I'd just be right behind you"

"Smart ass"

With a grin, the Watcher looked at her.

"Sorry"

"Just, stay here"

"Right"

Buffy stood and used the flashlight to look around the room. She saw a staircase ascending up and went to them. When she got to them, she also saw the door at the top. But it was bolted.

"Great"

"What?"

"Oh, nothing. Just rest, I need to see if this door-"

Again Buffy was interrupted as a cool breeze barley grazed her arm, giving her shivers. Turning around and flashing the light towards the direction she felt the breeze, Buffy saw a white misty substance in front of her. Swallowing, she called to Giles.
