(Dungeon)
Willow and Xander looked at one another in shock. Giles was alive! He was alive and Ethan helped him escape?
" We have to get out of here" Xander told Will softly as Dawn turned to them.
"Yeah but how, look at this place. There isn't ......."
"Hey guys. Check this out" Anya smiled as she pointed to a large stone sticking out from the wall.
"Great An. You found a large rock. Not unlike that one or that one or that one, or hey, look, ANOTHER rock!"
Anya glared at him as she turned and kicked at the large stone. A piece came off, showing a small filter of light spilling into the room from outside.
Xander cleared his throat.
"Oh, uh...yeah, well..."
Willow and Tara smiled as Xander looked at Anya with an apologetic smile.
(Giles' Home)
After a few moments, Buffy's tears slowed and she began to realize that she was wrapped in a warm hug and settled in strong, protective arms that held her close and gave her that familiar feeling of being safe. Maybe she wasn't dreaming after all? Maybe he was....real. He sure felt real, with his clothes soaking wet and sending shivers along her body from their cool touch. Yet, the warmth he was generating inside her, from simply holding her... how could she be so cold and so hot, all at the same time?
Slowly, Buffy pulled back to look into Giles' eyes.
Giles smiled faintly, wondering if she was all right. Before he could ask her, Buffy slid one of her hands to his heart, just inside his shirt which was torn across his chest. She felt his heart beating strong. It thumped against her fingertips as his chest hair tickled her palm.
He was real...
"Giles...." She sounded so astonished that he was really there, it made Giles grin again.
"Buffy"
"I can't believe...." Unable to get her brain around a complete sentence, Buffy tentatively reached out to touch his jaw. "You're hurt"
"A little, yes. Buffy, I'm sorry he hurt you. I'm sorry I allowed him to hurt you"
"Who?" she asked in whispered tone while continuing to touch his face until her fingers rested on the beating pulse at the base of his throat.
"Ethan..." Giles whispered. His skin felt like it was on fire from her touch. "He wanted, for some reason, to have all of you believing I was dead"
"Ethan?" Buffy growled the sorcerer's name as she silently counted the beats of Giles' pulse.
"Yes, I'm afraid he was helping someone..." Giles let his words fall silent when he felt Buffy's fingers move back to his face, and tenderly touched his lips.
"You feel so real"
"I am real, darling"
Buffy looked at him oddly.
"Darling?"
"S-Sorry. I ..."
"No. No I ...Oh Giles!" Buffy threw her arms around his neck and buried her face along the side of his throat. "You're alive! Oh god...you smell...you smell like you need a shower. But you're alive!"
He was laughing, then groaning as his ribs started to bother him again. Buffy pulled back to look at him,
"What? What is it?"
"Nothing" He grinned at her before running the tip of his fingers along her cheek.
"So help me if this is a dream..."
"It's no dream, I assure you"
"You look like hell"
"Thank you" He said, dryly.
"I-I didn't mean it that way. I'm sorry. It's just... Giles, are you *really* ok?" She asked softly and reached out to touch his side. Buffy couldn't believe all the blood covering him. Giles laid a hand over hers, thankful she was touching him where he hurt the least.
"I am now"
Lifting her eyes to his, Buffy found him smiling warmly at her again. The gentle look in his eyes, his breath lightly caressing her face as he continued to hold her...Buffy had never felt like this before. Not even with Angel. She wanted Giles. She wanted him right there and then.... And now was her chance, now was her shot to tell him how she truly felt. How sorry she was, and how very much she wanted to take him into her arms and make him well.
"Buffy?"
"Hmm?"
"Are *you* all right?"
"Yeah...I just...you're here. You're really here"
He laughed softly at her stunned voice.
"Yes, I am"
"Giles, I'm so sorry. I was such a horrible person to you. I know you left for my own good and I know it was hard on you but... Giles, you never knew this but... I was, I am...in love with you. And I know I shouldn't just come out and said that, that we should have some kind of period to get back to the way things were, but I don't want them the way they were. I want things better. I want *us* better. I want to love you and care for you. I want to make things better for you when you're sad, I want to make you smile when..."
"Now I think I'm the one dreaming" Giles told her quietly, as Buffy slipped her hand in his.
"No, Giles... I lost you, or I thought I had. And now I've got you back. Its' like I've been given a second chance to make all my wrongs, right. I've *never* felt so horrible or lost in my life as when I thought I would never see you again. You went away without ever knowing how much I *truly* and deeply care for you. How much I *love* you.... And even if you don't love me in the same way, it's ok. I'll deal. But I had to tell you..."
Before she could finish, Giles leaned into her, placing his lips on hers. At first Buffy was so shocked she couldn't move. But as Giles began to deepen the kiss, she gave in to her desires and kissed him back.
"Silly girl. How could I not love you...." Giles whispered against her mouth, before pushing her down on her back and using his body to do so. He rolled on top of his slayer and took the kiss to a level Buffy had only read about in romance novels.
(Mansion)
As the gang removed several bricks from the wall, they heard Ethan upstairs in the old Mansion crying out in agony. Willow went back to the door to look at the sorcerer. She couldn't believe what she saw. Giles' father was pouring hot wax over Ethan's bare chest.
"Tell me where to find my son, Ethan!"
"Never"
Ethan's chest was heaving up and down as he tried to remain calm and work a way out of this mess.
"Why are you protecting him? You're no longer friends..."
"Are you hard of hearing, mate? S-L-A-Y-E-R- !"
"You fear this slayer that much? To die by my hands?"
"You won't kill me, Alex"
"Oh? I won't? Why is that?"
"Because you need me"
Alexander tilted his head, intrigued by what Ethan had to say.
"How do I need you?"
(Dungeon)
"Guys, we should save Ethan"
Xander turned to Willow and looked at her as if she had lost her mind.
"What?!"
"He's protecting Giles! We should save him"
"Giles' dad is a vampire, Will. How the hell are we going to defeat him"
"Xander, we've been fighting with Buffy for years now! It's like second nature to us"
"No!"
"What do you mean no? You can't just veto my rescue like that!"
"Watch me" he told her as he returned to digging out the loose rocks from the wall.
"I think Willow has a point" Tara said softly.
"What is wrong with you two? Did you get hit on the head too hard?" Xander asked as he stood up and faced them. "Ethan has been nothing but a pain in ALL our asses since he came to Sunnydale!"
"Yeah, and ok, I agree with that. But he's upstairs getting tortured to save Giles, Xander, and I for one, am not going to let that happen. Just because he caused us some crap in the past, doesn't mean I won't help him now. For some reason he helped Giles and he's still helping by not telling Giles' dad where to find him. For that, I think we owe it to Ethan to try and save him"
Xander looked around the group.
"Do all of you feel this way?"
They all nodded their heads.
Sighing, Xander grabbed a brick that he had dug out of the wall and wrapped his fingers around it.
"Fine, I'll distract Giles' dad. Dawn, you be the look out. Will and Tara, you work on getting Ethan free"
Willow smiled proudly at her friend.
(Giles' Home)
A sultry moan slipped from the slayer's lips and into the watcher's mouth. Giles smiled against her before pulling back, allowing them to take a breath.
"Are you all right, darling?"
Sighing, Buffy continued to smile as she touched his jaw with her fingers.
"I've never been so right in all my life"
Giles dipped his head to briefly kiss her again.
"You don't know how wonderful it makes me feel to hear you say that"
"I think I have some idea" Buffy whispered as she slid her hand between them to grab his growing shaft. Giles growled and kissed her before realizing he was lying on top of her, not only getting her wet from his damp clothes, but also his blood.
Pulling away, he sat up slowly and apologized.
"I'm sorry, Buffy. I completely forgot"
"What? Huh?"
He smiled at her, then nodded towards her shirt.
"Oh. Oh! You're hurt! Giles, why didn't you remind me!"
"I was enjoying myself rather too much to care"
She faintly smiled at him as her eyes settled on his shirt.
"How bad is it?"
"Not too bad"
"Just bad enough then?"
He chuckled softly as he watched her stand.
"Where's the first aid kit?"
"Next to the bed, but Buffy..."
She reached for the kit and searched through it before he could tell her there was no need to worry.
"Ok, take that shirt off" She told him before setting the kit on his nightstand again.
"Buffy.."
"Off"
He sighed but did as she asked. Or tried to at any rate. When he lifted his arms to remove the shirt, his ribs sent a blinding pain through him, bad enough for Giles to grunt and grab his side.
"Giles?" Buffy knelt in front of him as she saw her watcher close his eyes, then after a few seconds, let out a breath. "Giles? You ok?"
Opening his eyes, he smiled at her before laying his hand to cup her cheek.
"Yes, I'm sorry for worrying you"
"Ethan is *so* going to pay for this"
"I imagine he's long gone by now, dear"
"I don't care" Buffy told him as she turned and grabbed the bandages and cream.
"I'll find him one way or another" Buffy continued as she gently took his shirt and helped him out of it. "And when I do, he's going to wish he'd never been born"
"My hero" Giles whispered with a small chuckle.
"Always" She told him with a warm smile.
"Always..." Giles confirmed.
Buffy was close to him now, her face inches away as she lifted his shirt off his shoulders. When she moved to pull away, he grabbed her, stopping her.
"What?"
Not answering her, Giles tugged her to his lap, where he helped her straddle his legs. Buffy smiled as he kept his hands on her hips, holding her there.
"I just want you to know how much I truly and deeply love you"
"I love you too, Giles" Her whisper was accompanied by a few tears gathering in her eyes. Buffy leaned into her Watcher and they shared another passionate kiss for several moments, before she pulled back and stood up.
"You need your wounds attended to. Then a shower and some warm food before I tend to the other parts of your body" she told in a husky voice.
