A letter for Santa

Dear Santa,

Willow said that this might make me release some of the feelings that I've been having lately. I'm afraid she knows me too well, at least well enough to know I'm not telling her everything. Everything of late has been tuned upside down. First with my sister, then Mom has been sick, and heaven knows that I don'' have a stable relationship with Riley, ha, that's a good one, I haven't ever had a stable relationship with a guy ever. Riley's a dear, but he always has this competitive side to him, like he has something to prove, now he's slowly self destructing, I worry for him, but I can't do it anymore. I know its wasn't nice of me to still have Riley when I've been having feelings for another, I just don't think he feels the same way. I don't want to be alone. If Giles could just let me know in some way… if only… he treats me so good, I know I don't truly deserve him after all I've done to him, I wonder if he has it in his heart to love me that way.

Love and kisses and also cookies,

Buffy

Dear Father Christmas,

Willow insisted that I write to you, but I refuse to write Santa, but yet she has, clever girl. She can be quite resourceful in her own indirect way. I wish nothing but the best for them for the holidays. I don't know what she expects me to write, everything I want I already have, except… truly Buffy is not a thing to ask for, I always thought she was so beautiful since the first time I so her, she was definitely someone to get used to as I'm sure she had to get used to me. There has been times where I wanted to lash out at the things she's done, cry with her when she's hurt emotionally, throttle the ones that hurt her and alas I want to hold her at night and tell her how much I love her. What right would I have to ask that privilege? She has been through so much, what use would she have for an old fool like me? I can't help to think though, that sometimes when we're training together, when she gives that look, its one I've grown quite fond of, its as though she means something more behind it, almost as though, it couldn't possibly be, especially since she's with Riley, but its as though she loves me in the same way as I do her, except she hasn't said so. The poor girl, she has been through quite a lot, I wish I could make all her problems subside, I feel so bloody useless when I can't help. I love her body and soul.

Sincerely,

Rupert Giles

Willow took the two letters and sealed them into separate envelopes. She wanted so bad to have both of them together, but she couldn't do anything about it… or could she. She quickly scribbled addresses on them and threw them into the letterbox.

Buffy picked up the mail two days later to see the envelope containing her letter addressed to Santa had been returned for lack of postage. She opened up and was surprised to find that her letter wasn't in there, Oh God! Its Giles'! She refolded it up; she didn't want to invade his privacy, but yet what a perfect way to know what to get him for Christmas! She reopened the letter and read. What she read, at the very least surprised her. She didn't think that Giles could feel that way about her. She sat somewhat dumbfounded, but she felt overjoyed with this revelation and then she realized that if she got this back, Giles probably has her letter! She thought about what she just said, so what if he has that letter! It only says the same thing that his says. We love each other! She has so much to do and Christmas is only two more days away.

Giles shuffled through the mail and noticed the letter he was coerced to write. With certain smugness he took it by the fireplace, but before he could throw it in, he looked at again and opened it. He noticed the handwriting right away and without further reading, put it back into the envelope and placed it on the table. He went to fix tea for himself resisting the urge to look at it again, every fiber of his being was telling him that he should not look at it, but yet if he could at least make this holiday the best he can make it for her, then knowing what she desires would be the place to start. He walked back to the table and stopped, it would be wrong to read it… the hell with it! He opened it up, but was surprised at the one true thing that would make her happy, him! He sat back bemused at that fact that both of them had felt the same way, but never said anything. He wanted to believe this is truly what she wanted and not just a passing fancy. There was so much to clear up, before he could really feel confident enough to take the steps to extend their relationship, but he would be prepared none the less.

Like every year, Christmas was at Giles' house. Anya was trying to thank Xander quite extensively for the gifts that she received. Willow and Tara were comparing their gifts and conversing to themselves. Dawn had stayed home with her mother, and Buffy was in the kitchen making tea and hot chocolate for everyone. Two days ago she had it all worked out how she was going to approach him, and now… now she's scared to death, she couldn't stand to lose him if they parted. Parted? Hell, we're not even together yet and I'm making with the negatives. Her past relationships hasn't quite proved fruitful for her and she feared that it was the going trend. She didn't notice Giles behind her, so when she turned around, she collided into him. He caught her from falling back and saw the tear that was rolling down her cheek.

"Luv, what's wrong?" he continued to hold her. He saw it again, that look. He swept the tear away and gently kissed her. When their lips met he realized that he might have just been a little forward to soon, but soon found that she was kissing back. They parted for the briefest of moments to meet again in a purely carnal kiss.

Willow peeked around the corner to see how they were doing; she smiled to herself… mission accomplished! She rounded the troops up and left the lovebirds to themselves.

END

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
