Part 6

Giles did not want to sit around and watch Dawn and her movies.  Also she kept grinning at him, which made him even more uncomfortable.  He asked Willow and Tara to come over and watch her while he stepped  out.  Before Willow and Tara showed up Dawn giggling reassured Giles that her lips were sealed but that she thought it was so cute that he and Buff were stealing kisses.

Giles was grateful to get away.  He drove around Sunnydale breathing in the night air.  All the while he secretly hope that he would run into Buffy.  Then again, he was also nervous about running into Buffy.  There was no telling how Buffy would react to that.

He pulled up to the cemetery feeling a bit foolish, but figured Buffy would probably be around, since she wasn't at the Bronze when he went there.  He parked his car and  began to walk around when in the distance he could hear Buffy talking to someone.  He crept over to where he heard the voices and crouched down in the bushes.

Sitting in the dirt and bushes, Giles couldn't help to think how low he was stooping eaves dropping also how silly he probably looked to.

"Dad?"  Buffy asked approaching him.

Hank turned around jumping in the air a bit startled, "Buffy?!?", Hank's heart was racing from the shock of someone sneaking up on him, and to his relief it was only his daughter, "Wait!  What are you doing out here at night.  Buffy, It's not safe your out to be wandering the streets this late."

Buffy hadn't been prepared to talk to her Dad just yet.  She still wasn't sure what she was going to tell him, "Uh... No I will be just fine.  I didn't expect to see you here."

"Nor did I."  Hank said looking at his daughter wondering what to say next, "so what bring you out?"

"The same ole same ole."  Buffy answered questioning herself if she should tell him that she does this like every night.  "Dad perhaps we could talk.  There are things I need to talk to you about"

Hank watched Buffy's face soften and realized she wasn't going to attack or argue right now. She really need to talk, "Honey, whatever it is you need to tell me, I am here listening."

Buffy smiled nervously, "Thank you Dad.  It's just.  So much has happened to me since we were all one big happy family and I think I need to tell you."

Hank began to grow nervous, "Buffy please whatev...."  A vampire jumped behind jump and she turned and slipped a stake from out of her sleeve and staked him right before Hank's eyes, "BUFFY!!!!"

Buffy turned to face her Dad till holding her stake up when another vampire grabbed Hank from behind.  Buffy charged them and punched the vamps face, causing the female vamp to jump back and let go of Hank.  Hank ducked and ran out of the way and proceeding to watch his daughter kick the living shit out of this... This... His eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing, then before he could blink he saw Giles jump out of the bushes and attack another vampire that was sneaking up on Buffy.  Buffy managed to stake the female vampire and joined Giles in fighting the other one and successfully staked that one too.

Hank stood there speechless, while Giles brushed the dirt off of his clothes and Buffy twirled her stake in her hand.

"You two ok?" Buffy asked.

Giles nodded a bit winded, but Hank stood frozen with questions racing through his head.

"Dad?  Dad?"  Buffy asked making sure he was ok and finally Hank slowly nodded his head, "Uh this is kinda what I wanted to talk to you about."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Willow and Tara were playing Monopoly with Dawn, which Willow was successfully slaughtering the others at this game.  Dawn was befuddled that Willow was playing so well.  Tara just smiled and encouraged Willow on a game well played.  Dawn usually won when she played against Willow and it bothered her.

"Ya know I think I just need to go upstairs and study and go to bed, if you two don't mind." Dawn said getting up and heading to the stairs.

"Dawn is everything all right?"  Tara asked.

"Dawny is just upset cuz she's losing."Willow smiled and winked.

"Yeah you sure whipped my butt tonight Willow." Dawn smiled when she wanted to rip her face off, "Good night."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So let me get this straight Vampires are real and you just killed a bunch?"  Hank asked trying to absorb everything his daughter was trying to tell him.

"Yeah I am the Slayer,"  Buffy said nervously wondering if her Dad was able to accept this.

"The Chosen One, there is one in every generation, and your daughter is her."  Giles tried to help Buffy explain.

"And you know about Buffy doing this?"  Hank asked Giles.

Buffy answered, "He's my Watcher.  It's his job to watch over me and train me and such."

"There's this whole council of Watcher's Mr. Summers who have worked with the Slayers over the centuries."  Giles chimed in.

"A council, a slayer what is all of this?"  Hank growing confused and annoyed, "Did Joyce, your Mother know about this?"

"Yes." Buffy answered, "She did.  It was an accident that she found out."

"Huh?" Hank couldn't understand why he had been left in the dark, but then again he realized he had left his daughters in the dark.  "Ok obviously I can't deny what I saw.  It's just real hard to adjust to.  Now I do have one question.  Is this why you have to stay in Sunnydale?  And why Sunnydale?"

"There's this Hellmouth here, that if opened could mean the end of the world and all."  Buffy explained.

"A Hellmouth?"  Hank was trying to figure out what all this meant.

"Yes sir a Hellmouth."  Giles answered stepping close to Buffy.  He wanted to put his arm around her but thought it would not be a good idea with her Dad here.

"Ok Buffy, you have just thrown a whole lot of stuff on me, that I need to just dwell on a bit and figure out what to do next.  I am not making any promises.  I just need a little time."  Hank offered.

"Really?  Oh Dad I was so worried you would freak out and get mad if I told you."  Buffy hugged her Dad.

"I am not saying I am none of the above, I just need to work things out, but I do love you and want what's best ok?"  Hank said hugging his daughter back. "I am going to go now, I will call tomorrow."

Hank turned and walked away.

When Hank was out of sight Giles hugged Buffy showering her with kisses.  Buffy loved the way she seemed to fit just perfectly in his arms..

Looking up Buffy asked, "Do you want to go home?"

Part 7

The next day...........

The phone rang first thing that morning.  It was Hank and he wanted to come over and see Dawn.  Dawn was enjoying sleeping in this Saturday morning.  It upset her that Buffy insisted that she get up and dressed, because Dad was on his way over.
Buffy was exhausted.  She couldn't sleep all night.  She had Giles on her mind.  Giles...Giles...Giles her watcher, the pillar in her life.  And she felt his lips for the first time on hers and she couldn't stop thinking of their kisses.  What made it harder was to know he was just down the hall sleeping alone and she was here trying to sleep all alone.  Her mind began to wonder at all sorts of possibilities.  She even wondered if Giles was able to sleep.  She figured that he was sound asleep without a worry or a thought on his mind.

Unfortunately for Giles, that was far from the truth.  He kept thinking of Buffy and reliving the day.  Rethinking what he had done and what he should have done.  Second guessing everything he had done.  When he decided that everything would work out, his mind began wandering.  He could remember all to well how wonderful it felt to hold Buffy in his arms and he groaned in frustration wanting to learn more.  "Could she know how every little thing drives me wild?"  Giles was thinking to himself.

It was a rough morning on both Buffy and Giles with Dawn up and about Giles and Buffy were unsure how they should behave.  And both were feeling sleep deprived.

Hank showed up  and after Buffy and Dawn hugged him, everyone excluding Giles sat in the Living Room.  Even though Buffy wanted him there, he insisted he had things to do in the shop.  Giles really wanted to leave the girls alone with their Dad.  He knew Hank didn't like him hanging around when  there was family discussion.  For the time being he thought it would be wise to step back and respect Hank's wishes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anya was surprised by the smell of tea in the shop this early in the morning.  She hadn't expected to see Giles until later that afternoon.  Then it hit her she would now have time to talk to Giles.  Now she only hoped that he would listen to her.

Giles could tell Anya was contemplating something.  He only hoped she hadn't heard about he and Buffy.  He still wasn't sure if he should say something about it while Hank was still in town.  Then he wondered if Buffy when have to decide to leave Sunnydale and go with Dawn to Los Angeles to continus protecting her.  With this thought in mind he grew sad thinking that just once he got his slayer she woudl be leaving him.

Anya sat down next Giles at the round table in the corner.  She smiled nervously, "Can I ask you something?"

Giles looked up from his book and smiled, "What is it, Anya?"

"Willow.  I am worried."  Anya said.

Giles hadn't expected this, he thought she probably had some business idea or something even worse.

Anya continued, "Xander thinks I am over reacting.  That this is Willow's way to cope, but I disagree."

"What are you talking about, Anya?"  Giles asked growing more curious.

"Haven't you noticed how carelessly she uses her magic?  It can only lead to devastating consequences.  Believe me I know."  Anya pointed out to Giles.
Giles thought about it and realized that she may have a point to it and nodded in agreement.

"Also, I found the same sort of amulet that D'hoffryn had given me when I became a vengeance demon.  I ask you, why would she keep it?  I think you would only hold on to something like that, if you are planning on possibly using it ever."  Anya explained growing nervous when she saw Giles eyes bulge out and that he had to remove his glasses to rub his head, "I left it back at her room.  You know so no one thinks I took it or would want to have it."

Giles contemplated what he should say, "I am glad you told me about this, but for right now I do not know if there is anything that can be done.  I will think about, though. "

"You do think, I was right in coming to you, then.  I wasn't reaching for something like Xander said."  Anya wanted reassurance.

Giles chuckled a bit at Anya's insecurity.  He couldn't imagine her being this insecure as a vengence demon, "Anya, you did fine.  I just have one question, weren't you tempted to take that amulet for yourself?"

Anya's eyes grew big and she shook her head no profusely, "No... No..never."

Giles just looked at Anya as a disbelieving parent would to a small child and Anya broke down.

"Yes Yes I was tempted but I didn't take it"   Anya answered hanging her head in shame.

"Anya, it's ok to be tempted, you did nothing wrong."Giles tried to reassure her and Anya's face lit up.

"It's Xander, you know.  I don't want to lose him.  And I am trying too hard here and to fit in, I... I"
Anya explained like a sincere child lost for words, "don't want to die though.  Why can't I have my immortality and Xander?"

Giles smiled slightly at a questions hundreds have asked, the why can't I have it all, "Perhaps, it is just this, when we strive for the supernatural and achieve it, we lose a bit of the natural, in order to obtain and maintain the supernatural abilities."

Anya looked at him a bit confused, and then smiled when she understood what he had just said.  Having had a taste of both, she realized as a demon, she missed out on so much of life and has a chance to start all over again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Willow was cleaning up the dorm room and when Tara stepped out, she pulled out D'Hoffryn's amulet and smiled widely.  Before Tara walked back into the room, she carefully stuffed it into a new hiding place.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy and Dawn sat in the Living Room after Hank ahd left.  There was both relief and concern on their faces. Giles had decided to come back for lunch, curious if Hank was still there and what was happening during his absence.

They both smiled up at Giles when he stepped up into the room.   They had a lot to explain.

Part 8

Giles was relieved to find out that Hank and the girls had come to some sort of an agreement.  Dawn was going to be able to finish the school year here in Sunnydale, with the possibility to stay for the summer if and only if she can keep her grades up and stays out of trouble in school.  Dawn had made oodles of promises that she would do just that and Buffy was determined to see her through it.
Later that evening after Dawn was up stairs in bed Giles and Buffy spent sometime alone
