They managed to work themselves into a sitting position and tried to move their hands apart. Both winced and exclaimed in pain. They looked at one another.

"Sorry," Buffy said, "but I think we're going to experience a form of closeness we probably wouldn't choose to if this wasn't an emergency."

They carefully levered themselves to their feet and shuffled down the hall to the bathroom. At the door, Buffy gave one final whimper of frustration and maneuvered herself and Giles into the room.

"It's a good thing you have such a gargantuan bathroom," she grumbled.

"That's it," Giles encouraged her facetiously, "keep looking on the bright side."

She just glared at him and tried to visualize the logistics of the situation.

"I have no idea how to do this," she sighed at last.

"Neither have I," he admitted.

With perfect timing, the phone rang. Giles made an automatic move to go answer it and nearly pulled Buffy off her feet.

"Bloody hell!" he exclaimed in frustration. He followed that with a few phrases in Latin, then smiled sheepishly at Buffy as he removed his hand from hers at long last.

Her mouth worked silently as he dashed from the room to get the phone. Glaring after his retreating form, Buffy eventually closed the bathroom door and took care of her requirements. When she got back to the living room, she crossed her arms under her breasts and shot another dirty look at Giles.

"You could have done that all along, couldn't you?" she asked.

"I...um...well, that is...it took me some time to recall the correct words for the incantation. It's been some years since I've needed that spell."

"And you couldn't tell me you knew something and to just keep quiet while you figured it out?"

"It's just...you kept saying such delightfully distracting things."

"Points for grace under grilling," she said with a small smile. "So, who was on the phone?"

Giles stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"Your mother, actually," he said. "She's been called out of town for a couple days. Something to do with the gallery, she said. She was leaving immediately with some fellow called Greg, and didn't want you to worry."

"What did you say?"

"That you'd fallen asleep on my sofa during the film, and I hadn't the heart to wake you."

Buffy got a sly grin on her face.

"So," she said, "Mom isn't home, and isn't expecting me home tonight, huh? Is that what you're saying?"

"Yes, it is."

"You lied to my mother?"

"I'm afraid so."

"You do know she lied to you, too, don't you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Greg's this guy she's trying not to say she's dating. I think she's embarrassed because he's about twenty-five. She hasn't even come clean to me yet."

She moved to Giles and put her arms around his waist, snuggling her cheek against his chest. She shivered when she felt his next words rumble through his chest.

"How do you know it isn't just business?" he asked.

"Because, I caught them kissing once. She said he was helping her with some paperwork, but they both looked way too guilty, and he had lipstick on his ear."

"That does sound something of a giveaway," he admitted. "But why are we talking about your mother's love life? I'd much rather talk about ours."

"Well," Buffy said, "since I'm staying the night, maybe we could go upstairs and work out some hard issues."

He put a finger under her chin and raised her face so he could look at her.

"Are you certain?" he asked her. "Because if you aren't, I can sleep down here on the sofa. I don't want to rush you at all."

"You gonna turn into a soulless killing machine after?" When he shook his head, she spoke again. "Do you promise to be there when I wake up?" He nodded. "And you won't say 'gee, it's been fun, but let's never speak to each other again'?"

"Of course not."

"Then I'm certain."

She moved out of the circle of his arms and held out her hand. He took it and lead her up the stairs. When they reached the top of the stairs, he pulled her close and kissed her deeply again. She responded with a happy moan as she slanted her lips across his to draw him still closer. Without breaking the kiss, Giles began to maneuver them to his bed.

In moments, they were tumbling across the bed, laughing and touching and kissing one another. Suddenly, Buffy reached up a hand to Giles' chest and looked quizzically at him.

"Is there something wrong?" he asked nervously. "Have you changed your mind?"

"No, no, I still want to do this," she assured him. "It's just...that spell. You said you hadn't needed to use it in years. Just when was the last time you were superglued to a girl?"

"Never," he chuckled. "I wasn't even sure the spell would work. But when I was with Ethan and the others...well, Ethan delighted in making my life a living hell, even then. A few times, he got me completely potted - drunk, that is - and left me, usually stark naked, magically bound to some public building. I learned the spell in self-defense."

"So...streaking was about getting to cover more than exhibitionism?"

"I'm afraid so. Don't tell Xander. I think he was actually impressed."

"Your secret's safe with me. But...is there anything else I should know about your dark past before we go too far?"

Giles flopped back on the bed.

"Let me see..." He began to tick things off on his fingers. "I was in a rock band when I was at Oxford. Played bass with them."

"I've seen photographic evidence," she nodded. "What else?"

"My middle name is Arbuthnot, after a disgustingly rich second cousin who didn't bother to leave me a cent in his will, despite the compliment...or in repentance. That, by the way, is a secret I expect you to carry unvoiced to your grave."

"No problem. I can see why you don't want anyone to know."

"My favorite flavor of ice cream is pistachio, I have a rather embarrassing addiction to quiz shows on television, I love Pink Floyd and The Who, I had featured roles in a couple pornographic films, I once..."

"Wait a minute," Buffy interrupted. "Just back up a minute. You...you did...you let somebody make movies of you having sex?"

"Actually, I participated in an orgy I didn't know was being filmed. I was pretty put out when I found out about it, I can tell you."

"Orgy?" she sputtered.

"They were all the rage," he explained patiently. "And the worst was the way I found out about the films. See, I had this girlfriend who had never seen an adult film, and so she talked me into taking her to one. I thought the room looked familiar when the show started, but I couldn't place it, so I didn't think anything more of it...until, suddenly, there I was on the screen. It was rather embarrassing."

Buffy stared, open-mouthed for a long minute. At last, the corners of Giles' lips began to twitch. She picked up one of the pillows and hit him with it.

"You creep!" she laughed. "You're so making that up!"

He giggled and took her in his arms again.

"Sorry to disappoint, but my deep, dark past is not as dark as all that," he said. "A bit of petty crime, a lot of adolescent rebellion, some very ill-advised magic use, and a group of misdirected, spotty youths. Most of us even had jobs. If it hadn't been for Eyghon, it would rate on about the same level as your disappearance after Acathla."

"I didn't do the magic or the petty crime."

"And I wasn't actually in any pornographic films...that I know of."

"So no...you didn't...there weren't any orgies, were there?"

"The vast majority of my sexual encounters have been one-on-one. No, there weren't any orgies. Disappointed?"

"I think we're looking more at relieved here," she said as she snuggled still closer to him. "I've never done anything like...actually, I've hardly done anything at all when it comes to sex. I don't even know that much about it." She looked at him with wide eyes. "Is it okay? I mean, I'd understand if you didn't want..."

He silenced her with a kiss.

"Do you really think I care about that?" he asked her. "It doesn't matter to me whether you've slept with one man or an army. I don't care whether you come to me knowing everything or nothing about sex. You are what matters to me. I want to be with you. I love you, Buffy."

"Really? You're not just saying?"

"I'm not just saying."

"And...you'd still...? With me? Even if I don't know what I'm doing?"

He rolled them over until he was on top, leaned down and kissed her, his hand wandering up to cup her breast for the first time. She groaned and kissed him back. Her hands smoothed through his hair, her back arched to bring his fingers closer to her body. He kissed his way across her cheek to her ear and nibbled lightly on the lobe.

"I think you're doing just fine," he whispered in her ear. "And I've wanted this for a very long time. Just keep telling me what you like, and what you don't like. I'll do the same for you, and we'll have a good time."

"I like kissing you," she said a little shyly. She took in a sharp breath as his fingers rolled her erect nipple. "And I like that...a lot."

His kisses moved to her throat. She shivered pleasurably at the sensation of his tongue flicking over her sensitive skin. Then his hands were at the hem of her knitted top. She sat up slightly so he could remove it. As soon as it was off her, she began to unbutton his shirt. Eagerly, they divested one another of clothing until both were naked. They sat still for a moment, just taking in the sights. Buffy couldn't pull her eyes away from Giles' groin.

"You weren't kidding when you said you had nothing to be embarrassed about, were you?" she said at last. "You really could have had a career in porn if you'd wanted."

"I think if I had, our association might have caused more comment than you spending your time with the school librarian."

"Don't think that didn't get comments. High school kids are sick."

Giles suddenly looked a bit odd and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Christ!" he said. "I can't believe this is happening. You're so young. Are you absolutely certain this is what you want?"

In lieu of a verbal answer, she pushed him lightly down onto the mattress and straddled his thighs.

"I'm certain, Giles," she said softly. "I want this; I want you. I love you."

She stretched herself out along his body and began to explore it with her hands and lips. He sucked in a surprised breath when she grazed one of his nipples lightly with her teeth.

"I thought you said you didn't know much about this," he managed to groan.

"I'm just doing what feels good," she grinned.

"You certainly are."

He pulled her up and kissed her again. They tumbled across the bed some more, laughing, kissing, touching, exploring. At long last, Buffy rolled to her back and drew her knees up.

"Please," she said. "I'm ready."

Giles brought one finger to her drenched core. She gasped when he touched her clitoris, then moaned as he began to rub it in tiny circles. He watched her as he brought her closer to the edge, then over it. Her hips bucked as she found her release. She pulled him into a passionate kiss that seemed to last forever, and yet not nearly long enough.

"Aren't you...? I mean, don't you want...?" she asked when she came down enough to talk. Her hand moved to encircle him, in case he didn't get her meaning.

He thrust into her palm and groaned.

"I want to," he said, "and I mean to. But I was taught that ladies first is only polite. I wanted to make sure you got as much pleasure as possible."

"Believe me, I'm pleasured. I've never been so pleasured. Now it's your turn."

She tried to shift him to lie atop her, but he resisted.

"Wait just a minute," he said.

"What for?" she asked impatiently. "Not getting any more ready, here."

He removed her hand from his cock and took hold of it himself.

"Giles...?" she asked uncertainly. "Don't I get to play?"

"In a moment," he assured her. He spoke a few words in Latin under his breath, then released himself and positioned himself between her legs. "Right now, in fact."

She put a hand on his chest to still him.

"What about...protection? I'm not on the pill."

"That's what that last spell was," he smiled. "It's a sort of a magical condom, if you will. One hundred percent foolproof, as well."

"No kidding?"

"No kidding."

"Cool."

She relaxed and invited him in. With a gentle kiss, he took her invitation. Buffy gave a small groan as she felt her walls stretch to accept him inside her. She smiled up at Giles.

"You feel wonderful," he said. "Do you like it? Having me in you?"

"It's incredible," she breathed. "I love it."

She reached up for another kiss. As their tongues mingled, Giles began to move gently. Again and again he rocked into her. All the time he made love to her, he whispered endearments in her ear. She whimpered in pleasure and moved her hands to his buttocks to encourage his movements.

"So good," she breathed. "You feel so good."

His groans rose in volume and frequency as his hips moved faster and faster. She gave a loud cry as she came again, her channel milking his cock. A moment later, his hoarse shout accompanied the first wave of his orgasm.

At last, they stilled and held one another close. Giles continued to drop kisses all over Buffy's face as they cuddled.

"You're amazing," he said softly.

"You're not so bad yourself," she said as she snuggled closer to him. "Mmmmmm....sleepy now. I can stay and sleep with you, right?"

"Just let me go down and turn out the lights," he said. "I'll be right back, and I want you to stay."

He kissed her temple and she gave a sleepy murmur of contentment. He got up and turned out the lights through the apartment. When he was done, he came back up the stairs to bed. Turning back the covers, he found that Buffy had rolled over in bed and fallen asleep, leaving him to take the wet spot. He chuckled and lay down. His arm wrapped around Buffy. In her sleep, she moved closer to his warmth and comfort.

The next day, Willow, Oz, Xander and Anya headed over to Giles' place.

"I forgot the video, so it's a good excuse to go make sure everything's okay," Willow said.

"They've probably unstuck by now, don't you think?" Oz asked. "I mean, how long can superglue last on skin? New layers grow all the time."

"And I bet Giles could use a hand cleaning up, after spending the night glued to Buffy."

"Cleaning up what?" Anya asked. "Nobody said anything about cleaning. I refuse to mop."

"And I bet you don't do windows, either, do you?" her boyfriend added.

"Me neither," Willow said. "I'm strictly a Mac girl." Xander and Anya looked blankly at her. "Computer humor," the redhead explained. "Not everybody gets it."

"So, do we knock?" Oz asked. "Or do we just walk in on whatever's going on in there?"

Xander opened the door.

A ping pong ball flew down from the loft.

"That's amazing, darling," Giles giggled. "Do it again."

Xander closed the door and turned back to his friends.

"Come on," he said, "we'll chip in for the late return fee, Will."
