Since there are two
different rating systems being used here at ODD,
I hope this page will help in any confusion. The first is the old MPA rating system...used up until a year or so ago by most people. But, many fanfic sites and groups have begun using a fan based system, due to harrasment of the MPA for using "their" system. Here at ODD I've got a little of both...mostly cuz I'm lazy. So, here's a breakdown of the two rating systems in play... |

MPA
(Motion Picture Association)
G - General Audience - safe for all to read
PG - Parental Guidance - may be unsuitable for smaller children due to language or themes.
PG-13 - Parental Guidance with suggestion as to the minimum age the reader should be - usually about what you would see on the show itself
R - Restricted - may contain violence, bad language and/or sexual situations.
NC-17 - Unsuitable for anybody under 18, or the local age of consent. Generally for explicit sexual scenes - sometimes for graphic violence.
Fan Rated System
(All those new abreviations you've been seeing)
FRC - Fan Rated suitable for Children.
FRT - Fan Rated suitable for Teenagers.
FRM - Fan Rated suitable for Mature Persons.
FRAO - Fan Rated suitable for Adults Only.
RATINGS
There are also a few ratings you may see within some fics,
so here's a breakdown of those...
American Television Rating System
(Those funky little boxes in the corner of your TV)
TVY - All Children - Appropriate for all children.
TVY7 - Directed to Older Children - Children age 7 and above.
TVG - General Audience - Suitable for all ages.
TVPG - Parental Guidance Suggested - Contains material that may be unsuitable for younger children.
TV14 - Parents Strongly Cautioned - Contains some material that may be unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.
TVMA - Mature Audience Only - Contains some material that may be unsuitable for children under 17.
Other
(Some other ratings you may have seen)PG-15 or 15 - Similar to the R rating, with the suggestion of content suitable for ages 15 and above.
M - Similar to the NC-17 rating. It is meant for Mature audiences.
